The Parker Williams Branch Anime Club is exploring the interesting world of Hunter X Hunter.

Join us in the Library Community Room on January 19th at 5 PM to watch and wonder at the different Hunters who find their fortunes in many ways. 

Trek the galaxy with the UH Astronomy Club

NASA is building a vehicle that one day will take humans to Mars and beyond. Better learn more about the solar system to keep up with the news when they do -- and who knows, maybe you or a family member can be on one of those flights!

In the meantime, enjoy a presentation, engage in some fun activities, and see the moon through club members' telescopes when the Astronomy Society at the University of Houston visits the Parker Williams Branch on Monday, Jan. 22 at 6:30 p.m. Adults, teens and kids of all ages are welcome. HCPL Curiosity Cruiser with Owlbotron! [All Ages] Thursday, January 18 at 11 AM

The Parker Williams Branch Library is going to have a visit from Owlbotron and the brand new Curiosity Cruiser!

The Curiosity Cruiser is Harris County’s mobile library, tech center, and outreach unit that is sponsored by the Barbra Bush Literacy Foundation.

It will be bringing books, teaching kids technology, and encouraging all in Harris County to be curious.

Meet Owlbotron, the mascot of the Curiosity Cruiser, who encourages kids of all ages to embrace the power of reading.

Join us in welcoming Owlbotron and the Curiosity Cruiser to our Community on Thursday, January 18th at 11 AM.

Texas Bluebonnet Award Voting [6-12] Saturday, January 13 from 10 AM – 5 PM

 

The Parker Williams Branch Library will be hosting voting for the Texas Bluebonnet Award.

Voting will be available to all children who have not yet been able to vote at either their elementary school or through their homeschool group.

Voting begins at 10 AM and ends at 5 PM. Please pick-up your ballet at the Reference Desk. 

Community Craft – Vietnamese Noodle Salad and Bake-A-Plate [All Ages] Friday, January 12 at 4 PM

 

As the New Year comes around again, we start shifting our focus to healthier eating.

Join us at the Parker Williams Branch on January 12th at 4 PM in the Library Community Room to learn how to make a Vietnamese Noodle Salad.

Children are invited to draw on a ceramic plate that will be baked in the oven making their scribbles permanent.

Food and family fun will ensue!

Join us on January 11th starting at 4 PM in the Library Community Room to watch Paddington based on the Michael Bond book series.

To go along with the movie, coloring sheets and markers will be provided during the movie. Movie popcorn has been generously provided by the Friends of the Parker Williams Library.

STEM Time – Science of Weight Gain and Loss [13+] Wednesday, January 10 at 5 PM

 

 

Did you know that if you eat 500 more calories a day for a week that you will gain one pound?

The Parker Williams Branch Library is providing a variety of different programs in addition to our regular 10:30 AM Wednesday Storytime and 10:30 AM Thursday Toddler Time:

Tuesday, January 2 from 1-4 PM – Extended Magic: The Gathering Gameplay [8+]


Magic: The Gathering is a dueling card game from Wizards of the Coast. It incorporates strategy, mythical lore, and competitive-community play.

Join us on January 2nd on the Library Floor for an extended hours of game play from 1-4 PM. For those who would like to learn how to play, a staff member will be present to teach you.
