STEM Time – Balance [7+] - Wednesday, May 9th at 5 PM

Balance is an important concept in our lives.

It helps us walk and do some fantastic things.

Come join us in the Library Community Room at 5 PM on Wednesday, May 9th to learn about the different scientific concepts and simple machines that have to do with weight and balance. 

Magic: The Gathering Gameplay [8+] - Monday, May 7th from 6-7:30 PM

Magic: The Gathering is a dueling card game from Wizards of the Coast.

It incorporates strategy, mythical lore, and competitive-community play.

Join us on May 7th on the Library Floor for a few hours of game play from 6-7:30 PM. For those who would like to learn how to play, a staff member will be present to teach you.

Summer Volunteer Orientation and Training [12+] - Saturday, May 12th at 10:30 AM

Calling all teen and tweens that are looking to get some volunteer hours over the summer.

The Parker Williams Branch will be having our Summer Volunteer Orientation and Training.

Volunteers will be able to get the Summer Volunteer Application packet. They will learn the different duties and responsibilities of volunteers, get a library tour, and receive training for the different tasks that volunteers will be asked to do over the summer.

Training will being at 10:30 Am on Saturday, May 12th in Classroom 3. 

Star Wars Celebration [6+] - Friday, May 4th at 4 PM

 

May the Forth is strong with the Parker Williams Branch Library.

Join us on Friday, May 4th for a celebration of all things Star Wars.

There will be Star Wars games, crafts, and activities in the Library Community Room starting at 4 PM.

Watch the beginning of Ezra Bridger’s journey to becoming a Jedi Knight.

To go along with the movie, coloring sheets and markers will be provided.

Dia De Los Ninos, Dia De Los Libros [5+] - Monday, April 30 at 7 PM

 

Dia De Los Ninos, Dia De Los Libros is a literacy holiday that celebrates children’s books written in Spanish.

It is important for children of all languages and cultures around the world learn how to read.

Join us in the Children’s Area of the library for a special bilingual storytime on Monday, April 30th at 7 PM.

Tech Time: Quick Resume with MS Word [8+] - Wednesday, April 25 at 5 PM

Every time we apply for a job, paid or volunteer, they want to look at a resume to see what experience and education.

Join Mr. John in the Computer Lab on Wednesday, April 25gth at 5 PM to make a quick resume with the different templates that MS Word has to offer.

Drone Flying Club [8 to Adult] - Monday, April 23 at 5 PM

The South Belt Ellington area has always been an innovative location for the expansion of aerospace.

With a grant from the Parker Williams and Harris County Friends of the Library, we have been able to purchase the equipment to begin our own drown flying club.

If you have ever wanted to learn how to fly a quadcopter, you can learn right here at the Parker Williams Branch Library on the second and fourth Monday from 5 PM to 6 PM.
