Volunteer to help adults learn to read and write

Many adults need assistance improving their reading and writing skills. Now is your opportunity to learn how to assist an adult new reader and to volunteer as a tutor. After attending a training session on Tuesday, April 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., we will match you with an adult learner who has asked for assistance at the library. You and your student will set up individual meetings on either a weekly or twice weekly basis, at a time convenient for both of you. The training and materials provided by the library explain lessons in detail, so no experience teaching reading is necessary. To register or for more information, please call the library at 281-484-2036 or register on our events calendar.
