Thursday, February 21st at 4 PM – Community Craft – Alma Thomas Tissue Mosaics [7+]



Alma Woodsey Thomas was an amazing African American artist who incorporated bright colors and patterns into stunning mosaics.

Join us on February 21st in the Parker Williams Branch Library Community Room at 4 PM to celebrate the artistry through our own tissue paper mosaics inspired by this wonderful artist. 

Wednesday, February 20th at 5 PM – STEM Time – Beloved Ballistics [8+]


Cupid is well known for shooting arrows to connect wanton lovers.

But how does he hit the target?

Learn a little about the fascinating world of ballistics with this Valentine themed STEM Time.

For African American History Month, learn about the history of jazz and the blues as we break down a basic 4 bar blues.

Monday, February 4th from 6-7:30 PM – Magic: The Gathering Gameplay [8+]




Magic: The Gathering is a dueling card game from Wizards of the Coast.

It incorporates strategy, mythical lore, and competitive-community play.

Join us on the first and third Monday of February from 6PM -7:30PM on the Library Floor for a few hours of game play.

For those who would like to learn how to play, a staff member will be present to teach you. 

Saturday, February 2nd from 11:30 AM - 1 PM – Lunar New Year Celebration [6+]


The Parker Williams Branch Library in partnership with the Parker Williams Friends of the Library and our Vietnamese Language Learning Community is proud to host our annual Lunar New Year Celebration.

On February 2nd from 11:30 to 1 PM, we will be having a variety of activities including folklore of how the Lunar New Year came about, games, a craft, and a variety of food.

Please join us as we celebrate the beginning of the Year of the Boar!

Friday, February 1st from 4 - 6 PM – Gaming – Fortnite Tournament [8+]

For our community of players, we will be hosting our version of a Fortnite Tournament where we will have a 2V2 Playground match versus players here at the Parker Williams Branch.

There will be timed rotations based on the number of players we have.

This will be happening on Friday, February 1st from 4 to 6 PM in the computer lab.

If you have USB Xbox One or PS4 controller, you can bring it and hook into our computer as long as it has the USB cord attached (or USB wireless charging cord).

Monday, January 28th at 6:30 PM – Chess Club [8 to Adult]


New to the Parker Williams Branch Library, we are exploring the interest in the Southbelt area for a Chess Club.

Chess is a two player, strategy game that is played by people all over the world.

Staff members will be available to teach beginners how to play.

Chess Club will be held on the Library Floor on January 28th, at 6:30 PM. 

Thursday, January 31 from 10 AM – 6 PM – Texas Bluebonnet Award Voting [6-12]



The Parker Williams Branch Library will be hosting voting for the Texas Bluebonnet Award.

Voting will be available to all children who have not yet been able to vote at either their elementary school or through their homeschool group.

Voting begins at 10 AM and ends at 6 PM.

Please pick-up your ballet at the librarian at the Circulation Desk. 

Thursday, January 24th at 4 PM – Community Craft – Hot Glue Snowflakes [7+]


Hot glue is used for a variety of different purposes.

We will be using it to sculpt snowflakes of whatever shape and size that you would like.

If you want, you can even paint it.

The flurry of fun starts at 4 PM on January 24th in the Library Community Room at the Parker Williams Branch Library.
