E-Mail Basics Computer Class

Perhaps you have an e-mail account but haven't used it in some time, or maybe you have never had an e-mail account before but would like to begin to receive mail electronically. If you are interested in getting an e-mail account and becoming familiarized with how to use your account to keep in touch with family members and friends, we invite you to our free E-Mail Basics computer class next Tuesday, May 1 @ 10:30 am. No registration is required, and you don't have to have an existing e-mail to participate. 

Children's Day / Book Day "DIY Hardcover Book"

Children's Day/Book Day (El día de los niños/El día de los libros) takes place on April 30th and celebrates children, families, reading, and the importance of literacy. School-age children are invited to join us to celebrate this important day by personalizing their own hardcover book with a variety of craft and decoration materials. Our DIY Hardcover Book program will take place next Wednesday April 25 at 4:30 PM and all materials will be provided.

Theater Sketches for Teens

The South Houston Branch Library will be having a Theater Sketches program for teens ages 12 and older who are interested in theater and have a passion for acting. No experience is required! Teens will have fun challenging their acting skills while at the same time exploring literature. Registration is required and is open until Wednesday April 11th, and the program is Thursday, April 12 at 4:30 pm.

Graphic Novel Book Club

If you like comics and graphic novels then you won't want to miss out on the book club starting at South Houston Branch Library in April. Tweens ages 8 to 13 are invited to join our Tween Graphic Novel Club, where we will discuss and take part in fun activities related to different Graphic Novel titles. This is a three session program that starts on Thursday, April 5 at 5:00 PM. Space is limited and registration is required. Please call the library at 832-927-5530 to sign up.

Easter Egg Hunt Today @ 4:30 PM

The Friends of the South Houston Branch Library will be hosting an Easter Egg Hunt. We invite you to bring your family and enjoy this fun event today, March 26, at 4:30 PM. Don’t forget your basket for all the eggs filled with treasures that you will find!

Emoji Easter Eggs

The South Houston Branch Library invites children ages 5 to 12 to the library on Monday to decorate their very own Emoji Easter Eggs! Join us March 19 at 4:30 pm and decorate yellow Easter Eggs with the emoji face of your choice. All materials will be provided.

Free Citizenship Classes/ Clases de Ciudadania Gratis

The South Houston Library will continue to offer free citizenship classes! These classes are designed for adults preparing to take the naturalization test. Classes start Saturday, April 07, 2018 from 10:30 am- 12:30 pm. Space is limited and Registration is Required! Register in person at the library or by phone at 832-927-5530. Conversational English Class Starting Soon!

Easter Egg Wreath

Adults are invited to join us in creating a beautiful wreath that is sure to brighten up any door or wall. Join us this upcoming Monday, March 5, at 1:30 PM and use colorful Easter Eggs, grass, ribbon, and other Spring materials to create your very own Easter Egg Wreath. We will have fun using our creativity, and best of all, this wreath can be saved for future use! All materials will be provided by the library.

Celebrate Read Across America Day with The Cat in the Hat and the Arandas' Mascot "Goat"

Read Across America is an annual celebration created by the National Education Association and promotes the excitement of reading and books to children and teens everywhere. Here at the South Houston Branch Library we invite you to celebrate Read Across America Day during our celebration next Thursday, March 1 at 4:30 PM. Children will have the opportunity to enjoy a cake sponsored by Arandas Bakery, prepare their own Dr. Seuss snacks, and participate in fun games. "The Cat in the Hat" and the Arandas mascot "The Goat" will be present and available to take pictures with children. We invite you to come and celebrate the magic of reading with us.
