Page TurnersTime of meeting: August 14, 6:30 pm.  The Page Turners will be having a Readers’ Choice, during which they will give a 5-minute synopsis of a chosen title for the group to consider as a selection for the coming year.  

They invite everyone to come to the meeting to suggest a title for their consideration.

Book Buddies--Fall 2018 Session

Book BuddiesAre you in 7th – 12th grades? Do you want to be a mentor? Do you need service hours? Then volunteer to be a Big Buddy! Or, do you have a child in Kindergarten – 3rd grades? Do you want to help them develop a love of reading? Then apply for your child to be a Little Buddy!

Harris County Public Library's Book Buddies program pairs trained teen volunteers (Big Buddies) with children in Kindergarten through 3rd grades (Little Buddies). For 10 weeks, the Buddies meet once a week for 45 minutes of shared reading.

This next session will run from September to November 2018 at Spring Branch-Memorial Library (930 Corbindale Rd, Houston, TX 77024). You will meet once a week on Monday from 4:30 PM to 5:15 PM to read with your Buddy.

If interested, stop by Spring Branch-Memorial Library to pick up an application to be a Big Buddy or a Little Buddy!

Pokemon in the Park

PokemonJoin us in the Hedwig Village Park for an hour of Pokémon Go. We'll provide the WiFi, you catch the Pokémon! Feel free to bring other Pokémon games to share with your fellow trainers.

If you attended the June Pokémon in the Park event, don’t forget to bring your badge to enter to win a prize!

Green Thumb Series: Raised Beds, Low-Volume Drip Irrigation & Rain Barrels

Rain barrelThe Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and the Harris County Master Gardeners will discuss basic concepts of irrigation and rainwater harvesting as part of their Green Thumb gardening series.  They will also highlight the advantages of having raised beds in your garden.  Come and learn about soil choices, water conservation, sustainability and financial considerations.

Country Club: Japan *bonus program!
