Genetic DNA Testing: An Intro to What It Can and Cannot Do

DNAIn the last few years, genetic DNA testing has become increasingly popular for both serious genealogists and those who are simply curious about their heritage. But there are still many questions surrounding the tests. This seminar, featuring Daniel Sample from the Genealogy Department at George Memorial Library of Fort Bend County Library, provides a basic introduction to what genetic DNA testing offers.

During this seminar, we will discuss the various companies and tests available for genetic DNA testing to help you decide which may be right for you. We will also go over what to do after you receive your results, so feel free to attend with results in hand.

This seminar will be this coming Saturday, June 17 from 10:30-11:30 am in the first floor Meeting Room (L129).

For more information, call the library at 832-559-4200.

Henna for Teens and Tweens!

Teens and tweens (ages 10 – 18), are invited to come to Room L129 on the 1st floor of the Library on Tuesday, June 13th from 3:00 – 4:30 pm for the Henna program.  Known as mehndi in Hindi, henna is an all-natural product made from henna tree leaves which are ground to a powder.  When mixed with water (or other liquids) it becomes a thick paste which can then be applied to hands, feet, arms, or legs. Henna is not permanent, it stains the skin and will fade and wash away in 1–2 weeks.  This program requires parental permission to attend and the forms are available at the library. For more information, please call 832-559-4230.
