Help Support the Library!

Everyone shops at one time or another throughout the year, and even more so at this time of year with Thanksgiving, and the December holidays approaching.  Our wonderful Friends group has made it possible for you to shop and help the library at the same time - a win/win situation!  It is so easy to do  and costs nothing except the time to set it up.  There are 2 programs, Amazon and Kroger that will give a portion/percentage of each purchase back to the Library.  The funds collected and raised by our Friends group goes directly to programming and special events that are held at the library througout the year.  Please take a minute to register for one or both of these programsOn behalf of the entire staff and Friends group, we thank you and greatly appreciate your support!

The Thankful Tree

tree   tree

Tis the season to give thanks! This month in the Children's Area we have our very own Thankful Tree. This beautiful bouquet of branches stands on top of the first set of picture book shelves and is waiting to be filled with colorful paper leaves. All you have to do is ask for a paper leaf at the Children's Desk, write (or draw) what you are thankful for, and give it back to a librarian to hang on the tree.

Today, we are thankful for many things, but at the top of the list are our wonderful library customers, good books, and the Houston Astros winning the World Series!

We'll be adding leaves to the Thankful Tree all month in preparation for Thanksgiving. Don't miss it!

NaNoWriMo - Come Write In

typewriterCalling all writers! National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) is an annual event that encourages people to write a complete 50,000 word manuscript during the month of November. NaNoWriMo isn’t focused on perfection, but rather on pushing through and finishing a project.

If you are participating this year and in need of a peaceful place to write, look no further! Twice a week during November, we will serve as an official Write In location, providing a quiet space to write, or a chance to network with other writers.

These Come Write In sessions will be held every Thursday in November (except Thanksgiving, when the library will be closed) from 5:00-8:30 pm, and every Monday in November from 8:00 am–12:00 pm. The room varies, so ask a librarian to point you in the right direction. Make sure you have all your writing necessities with you!

For more information, call the library at 832-559-4200.
