Thursday will be a Happy Day!

    Looking for an opportunity for children and adults to smile and laugh this Thursday?  Happy the Clown will be performing at Freeman Library on Thursday, July 25 at 2:30 pm and 3:30 pm.  Happy combines magic, music, jokes and an appreciation for books in his program.  This program is recommended for children three years and older.

Tickets are required.  They are free and available from the Children's Department starting 30 minutes before each session.  For more information, please call the Children's Department at 281-488-1906.

There's s-n-a-k-e-s in the library!

  Thomas "The Snakeman" Davis will be bringing snakes to Freeman Library today (July 11) for shows at 2:30 and 3:30 pm.   Mr. Davis will show and talk about the snakes and then allow the audience to hold some of them.

This program is recommended for children 5 years old and older.  Tickets are required.  They are free and will be distributed 30 minutes before each session. 

Freeman Library is open 1-9 pm on Thursdays.  This program is always popular, so we recommend that you come early to the library and look at some of our displays while you are waiting.  This program is funded by the generous donations of the Friends of Freeman Library.

Teens: DJs, Homestuck, and Hipsters This Week @ the Library

This week, you can learn how to DJ, make a Homestuck plushie, and win a medal in the Hipster Olympics at the library!

Wednesday, July 10th at 3pm you can learn the art of the DJ at Do You Want to Be a DJ? Learn from a professional DJ and try out your new skills.

Thursday, July 11th at 3pm create a smuppet from Homestuck at Homestuck Plushies.

Slap on your skinny jeans, scarf, and black glasses for a night of hipster fun, mockery, and irony at the Hipster Olympics on Friday, July 12th at 6pm. Read 5 books or 10 hours for a pass to the hottest party this side of Park Slope. Permission slips are required and must be turned in by Thursday. When you log your books in the Atatscocita Branch Library's Teen Summer Reading program, you are automatically entered into our weekly book backpack drawing. 

Love our fabulous programs? Every time you attend a teen program at the Atascocita Branch Library, you can sign up for our weekly program drawing. There is a different theme every week ranging from art to zombies.  Didn't win our weekly drawing? All the slips will be pooled for our Super Awesome Mega Program Prize that will be awarded at the end of summer. It contains items from all our program prize packs!

Get Crafty with "Not a Box" Craft on Thursday, June 27 at 2:30 PM & 3:30 PM

   Looking for something free and creative for the children to do on these hot... hot... hot.. June days?  Join us this Thursday, June 27 for a "Not a Box" Craft at 2:30 and 3:30 pm.   We'll have small to medium sized boxes and lots of colorful items to use in decorating the creations.   This program is recommended for children ages 3 years and older.

Tickets are required.  They are free and available starting 30 minutes before each session of the program.    We will be distributing the tickets at 2:00 pm for the 2:30 pm session and 3:00 pm for the 3:30 pm session.  This program was popular last  year, so we recommend that you come early and look for books.   Freeman Library is open 1-9 pm on Thursdays.

Nitsana Lazerus visits Freeman Library with a funny puppet show!

     Looking for a fun puppet show for toddlers and the whole family?  Puppeteer Nitsana Lazerus will be performing a puppet show on Thursday, June 20 at 2:30 pm and 3:30 pm.   Nitsana will bring lots of her puppet friends to talk about travel and the fun in learning about languages and other places.

Tickets are required.  They are free and given out starting 30 minutes before each performance.  This program is always popular.   We recommend you come early and enjoy the Children's Department.

We've handily put them on display for you on our Round Wall by the front entrance, labeled by continent. Enjoy a good beach read, experiment with a new exotic cookbook, discover a new destination--all in the privacy of your own wonderful mind.

June Fun for Children at Freeman Library

         Looking for some fun and free activities to do with the children now that school is out?  Bring them over to Freeman Library.   We have a summer reading program and lots of great activities to do as well.   All activities are free, though most require tickets which are usually given out starting 30 minutes before the programs.
