2013 Summer Reading Program

It's Time For Winners...

We promised a little plush giraffe and a baby hat at the end of Summer Reading Program, right? So here they are! Drum rolls please. And… the winner is Blake Ali for the Kids Summer Reading Program. Blake read and logged in more than seventy books. He was very cool about letting us take a picture of him and we are happy to share it with everyone.

 

 

 

 

 

 

We also have a Baby Summer Reading Program Winner. And the winner's name is Ezekiel Uhrlass. The baby won a cute little baby hat. Congratulations Blake and Ezekiel. Well done and thank you so much for participating.

Get Fit for School... With Zumba For Kids!

Books, Fun and Now Zumba Dance with Kids! We got it all!
Did you have your share of fun this summer? I know I know you did! Well, we are drawing very close to the end of Summer Reading Program but the fun still continues. So get ready for the Grand Finale because we have more fun in store for you.

 

Join us for Around the World Party on August 8th 2013 and celebrate the end of a successful Summer Reading Program 2013 with Zumba Dance for kids! We will also have refreshments. The event will take place at the Community Center across from the Library entrance at 3 PM. Don’t forget to mark your calendars. See you there!

Moo Cow at the library

Have you ever milked a cow? Well now is your chance! Mooove on over to the Galena Park Branch Wednesday, August 7th at 10:30 am and join us for a special program. Southwest Dairy Farmers will be showing us how to milk a cow and talk about where dairy products come from.  There is one week left to the Summer Reading Program, but don’t worry there is still time left to sign up, login your books and get your prizes just visit your library or our website www.hcpl.net

Book Bash Magic!

 

Abracadabra! Do you like magic? Then don't miss Julian Franklin's real bunny, David Hopperfield, and puppet Roosevelt Rat! Join us in the Children's Area for a giant Book Bash Magic Show on Wednesday, July 17 at 2:30 pm. No tickets required. Texas Snakes and More

We will start handing out free tickets for "Texas Snakes & More" on Thursday, July 11 when we open at 10 am.  The program is scheduled for Monday, July 15, at 2:15 pm. 

Come and enjoy our free, family-friendly movies on Wednesdays at 2:15.  We have free popcorn, too.

We All Scream For Ice Cream!

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!! Come join us Wednesday, July 3rd at 3:00 pm for a fun and delicious ice cream making program in the meeting room. Be ready to shake and dance with your ice cream. It is going to get cold so bring your winter gloves.

Summer Reading Fun!

 

 Don't forget to sign-up! The Summer Reading Program runs June 3rd - August 10th this year. You can register online from home or in the library. Everyone is invited to participate including babies, children, teens and adults. Read books, newspapers, magazines or listen to audiobooks and log in your titles and minutes for a chance to earn or win great prizes. Everyone will receive a bracelet for just registering! We have lots of extra programming in the summer so be sure to join us for movie days, storytimes, exceptional performers, and crafts! Summer Reading Program Is Here! First Stop: Bubble Festival

 Summer Reading Program has begun!! This year’s theme is Have Book: Will Travel. We will be traveling around the world and visit a different country each week; so walk, run, ride, drive, fly, or teleport to the library and join the fun.  You can also register online at www.hcpl.net or register with a staff member at the library.
Our first stop will be exploring the park. We will have a bubble festival for the whole family. Join us Thursday, June 6th at 3 pm at the park for a bubblelicious program. Sun block and refreshments are highly encouraged.
