Monday Movie Madness

Monday MovieNorth Channel has so many fun activities in the midst for October, and we're starting off with an all new Monday Movie Madness.
Come join us this Monday, October 5, 2015 as we watch Cinderella (2015) on our big screen projector. It is the latest live action film, rated PG, and has a run time of 105 minutes. As always, don't forget to bring your pillows, blankets, and snacks (light colored drinks) for a relaxing fun time.

Join the fun with Wii games and board games... come over and play at our place!

Hispanic Heritage Celebration @ North Channel

Pan PipesOn Wednesday, September 16, 2015, North Channel will be kicking off Hispanic Heritage Month with a fun afterschool  program. We will be creating our very own pan pipes made from straws. For a light snack we will be trying foods from Central America including pupusas, and fried plantains. Come join us for lots of fun.

(some) September Children's Programs!

 Registration is now open for the following Children’s programs Art Explorers Monday, September 14th at 1:30 pm and Tuesday, September 8th at 4:30 pm.  This month learn about Canadian artist Ted Harrison and paint a watercolor of the Yukon.  Each session is limited to 20 children (ages 8-12).  Our newest program , Creative Writing every Thursday at 4:30 pm.  Learn how to write creatively through good books!  This month’s topic is story structure and The Hobbit.  This program is limited to 10 children (ages 9 – 12) and registration is for the entire month.  Please call 832-559-4235 for more information and to register.   

Afterschool Art Program returns in February with American Art

Our Afterschool Art Program returns on four Thursdays in February - 2/5, 2/12. 2/19 and 2/26 from 4:30-5:30 pm.  This program is for children 10 years and older. Children will learn about several historical periods of American Art and get to do art projects.  Children will be expected to attend all four sessions and they must bring a smock or old shirt to protect their clothing.

Afterschool Modern Art Program comes to Freeman Library in October

The Children's Department is holding a drawing for spots in the upcoming Afterschool Modern Art program.  This hour-long program for children 10 years and older begins on Thursday, October 2 at 4:30 pm and continues on Thursdays through October 23.  Participants are expected to attend all four sessions.  The children will learn about a variety of styles in modern art and then they will&

SwimJim Water Safety Program on Monday, April 21 at 4:30 pm

  Get your school age children ready to enjoy summer near the water.  This Monday, April 21 at 4:30 pm, we will have an instructor from SwimJim at Freeman Library to talk to children about water safety.  This program is recommended for children 5-12 years old.  The SwimJim instructor will give tips to children about how to enjoy water activities, while staying safe.

Tickets are required for this program.  They are free and available at the Kids Information Desk starting 30 minutes before the program.

Afterschool Program: Make a colorful paper garland for Thanksgiving!

   Thinking of decorating your table or hearth for the upcoming Thanksgiving festivities?  If you have children 5-12 years old, we have a fun and colorful decoration they can make for your holiday celebration.   We'll be making a paper garland featuring pictures of gourds and corn that the children will color.   This program will be on Monday, November 18 at 4:30 pm.  Tickets are required.  They are free and available at the Kids Information Desk starting 30 minutes before the program.
