Celebrate Johnny Appleseed!

Celebrate Johnny Appleseed's birthday on Thursday, September 21st at 5pm in the Children's Area.  Learn all about this American pioneer named John Chapman,who introduced apple trees to many parts of the Northern United States and Canada.  Each attendee will make their own yummy caramel apple creation to eat and enjoy!  This program is for children ages 7-12 and requires registration by calling 832-559-4235.

Space is limited. Please arrive early to ensure participation. Free storytime tickets will be distributed 30 minutes prior to programs or 15 minutes prior to 10 a.m. programs.
Registration for after-school programs opens 30 minutes prior to the program.

Roller Girl and Roller Derby at the Library!

 At the Monday, February 20th meeting of the Children's book club Chapter Chats at 5 pm, the Newbery honor book "Roller Girl" is being discussed.  As an extra added surprise, members of the Houston Roller Derby team, The Psych Ward Sirens, will be here in person!  Learn [first hand] about the sport of roller derby, take pictures and see a [library style] roller derby demonstration!  All are welcome to attend!  If you would like to read the book and participate in the discussion, please stop by the children's reference desk to check out your copy!  For more information, call 832-559-4235. *The John Newbery award is presented annually to authors of the most distinguished contribution to American literature for Children.

 

Explore Magical Creatures in Art!
