Shaheen Rahman's Ebru on Display in the Internet Cafe

We're honored to host "The Art of Ebru" by Shaheen Rahman in the Internet Cafe this summer. From now through the end of August, patrons may enjoy viewing the traditional Turkish art of paper-marbling known as "Ebru." Shaheen Rahman is an art-lover and artist who has enjoyed painting with watercolors for the last 10 years. Recently, she immersed herself in practicing Ebru. This fascinating technique involves painting on the surface of water using styli, combs and rakes. The painting is then transferred onto paper, revealing exquisite patterns which can include stylized flora and fauna. She likes to incorporate Arabesque motifs and calligraphy into Ebru for a wide variety of expression through this medium.

Meet Denise Bossarte

The Secret Garden Photography Art show, featuring the plant life of Mercer Arboretum,  is in its final days.  It will be on display until November 20th for you to enjoy.  Here is one of our featured artists, Denise Bossarte.  She has provided several of her photographs for the show.  One of them is called Watch Your Fingers.  She has a wonderful variety of beautiful photographs for you to enjoy.  So come take a look while they are here on display.

Having Fun with Munnies

Barbara Bush MunnyA big thanks goes out to InsomniaVGC for providing the Munny display this month in our lobby. All month customers have been taking a moment to take it all in. If you are not familiar with Munnies, then just imagine blank canvases in the shape of action figures. How cool is that? One of the artists even did a Barbara Bush! Of course she has a book in her hand.

As a bonus InsomniaVGA and Kidrobot have teamed up to provide a MICRO MUNNY to those 16 or under for FREE! Just visit the Children’s Department to get one. Supplies are limited. One per person. The recipient must be present.

Art In the Forest

Kingwood area artists have a new venue for displaying their original art. The Kingwood Branch Library is now partnering with the Kingwood Art Society to present "Art In the Forest", an ongoing exhibit of paintings, pastels, and mixed media.  On your next visit to the library, be sure to check out the many items in our lobby display case as well as the second floor "gallery".  We guarantee you'll be impressed by the talent and creativity of your friends and neighbors!
