Summer Reading @ HCPL Starts June 6!

Harris County Public Library’s Summer Reading Program kicks off June 6 with new incentives & new ways to participate.

Harris County Public Library’s annual Summer Reading Program has never been just about reading. Summer at HCPL is about reading and all the ways it helps you engage more fully with the world around you. With that in mind, for the first time, HCPL will offer incentives not only for what you read, but for what you do, as well.

Handy Tips to Stop Bedtime Drama


Dear Parent,

Does the very thought of "bedtime" make you want to wince?  Getting your child to bed is not an easy task, but the solution is closer than you think. Come learn what you can do to help your child transition from playtime to bedtime. Registered dietitian, Mrs. Katrina Sobecky, will be at the library to help you solve your bedtime drama.

When: Monday, March 14th @ 7:00 pm
Ms. Christine will present a short activity for children following this program.

Stories, rhymes, songs and social time for babies ages 0-15 months and parents/caregivers.

 

TODDLER TIME

Wednesdays11:30 a.m. – 12:00 noon*
or Thursdays: 10:00 a.m.-10:30 a.m.

Stories, songs, rhymes, finger plays and fun for ages 16-36 months.

 

PRESCHOOL STORYTIME & CRAFT

Thursdays 11:00-11:30 a.m.

Stories, songs, rhymes and a craft activity for ages 3-6 years.

Baby Time @ Your Library!

Moms, dads, grandparents, join us for Baby Time each Thursday morning at 11 am! We share simple stories, finger rhymes and songs.  This program is recommended for infants and children up to 18 months old. Please call for more information: 713-450-0982

First Songs!

Join us Wednesday March 5th at 1:00 p.m. for a meaningful, creative, and fun way to introduce reading to your child. First Songs teaching artist Sandra Campbell will be our guest instructor as she teaches moms and dads how to sing, read, and play with their children. Don't miss out on this great program. Baby Time Fun Time!

Are you a parent who would love the opportunity to spend even more quality time with your baby, meet other moms, and just have fun? Well High Meadows is the place for you. Every Wednesday at 1:00 pm,  High Meadows library will host Baby Book Time. Babies can listen to music, play with toys, and interact with other babies in the neighborhood. BABY TIME @ YOUR LIBRARY!

If you have little ones, join us for Baby Time each Thursday morning at 10:30 am. This short interactive program introduces board books to children. Plus we sing songs, dance and play with the parachute! Toward the end of the brief program, we open the toy box for fun time with educational toys, including building blocks. And we end each program with bubbles!! The babies love to watch the bubbles, try to touch them and pop them! Plus we now have  "Early Literacy" ABC puppets as well as "Sight and Sound Tubes" as a gift from the North Shore Rotary Club!
