Word Crafters

Word Crafters is a growing writer's group that meets every Wednesday at Baldwin Boettcher Library to discuss the art and craft of writing.

Benefits of Crafts in Story Times

Developmental Benefits of Art

In our Story Times, we often incorporate creative activities.  We practice this approach in order to provide building blocks of child development.  The arts promote skills that are important in academic, career and life success.  Arts and crafts also open a child’s eyes to a new world of possibilities and independent thinking.
Here are just a few reasons why we use crafts and arts as part of our regular programming

Motor Skills: Scribbling with a crayon, learning to hold scissors, manipulating paintbrushes are all helpful dexterity skills that later translate into learning to write.
