Pirate Ships! AHOY

Pirate ship with ghosts and sir thomas from Narnia

Arrg Maties! Today we built our very own pirate ship!  We used the template I found on Red Ted Art blog, then we used all the different crafts we used through out the week and some toys we had laying around to compliment our pirate ship.

The ghost from our Wednesday Toddler Time Craft, the foamy ocean was made in our Preschool Picassos program and the rest was from Red Ted.

Volunteer Clean-Up Day

Aldine volunteers

It has been a busy summer here at the Aldine Library. That's the way we like it. Now that the Summer Reading Program has drawn to a close- and with school getting ready to start- we decided the library could use a good cleaning. This morning, a few good volunteers from the community stepped up to the plate and went above and beyond the work provided by the library janitorial service. Tables, computers, doors, windows and desks got a good swabbing. Thanks to the effort of our teen and adult volunteers, the building is looking nice, neat, and extra clean.

Things Are Moving According to Schedule

April 22nd #1

As of April 21st, 2010

This may just look like a bunch of dirt to some people, but to you and me and a few others in the know, this is exciting stuff.! All of this dirt being pushed around means we are on target for the new Evelyn Meador Branch Library coming in 2011! (We're hoping to have the slab poured by the end of May.)

Stay tuned for further developments!
