Book Hunters in Brief #40: Banned Books Week 2014 - Graphic Novels

In Brief #40 GraphicHarris County Public Library and Book Hunters support your right to read what you want to read. The free exchange of knowledge is one of the foundations of this nation. To understand why, you need only look at a history book. The accepted idea and the unquestioned notion often turn out to be wrong for any number of reasons. What you read may not be to another person's liking, and vice versa, but both of you have the right to make up your own mind.

Canaries in the Coal Mine: Banned Books Week, September 24 - October 1

ALA Banned Books Week 2011 LogoEven as you read this, some nameless canary is sitting alone at a keyboard pecking away at one or another of your dearly-held and unquestioned truths. With time and because of that canary's work, that truth will be shown to be false. And you will be better for it. We all will.
