Children's Movie Day!

Tomorrow is Movie Day in the Children's Area!  join us on Thursday, June 25th at 3:00 pm in the Children's Area for a movie and popcorn!  Charlie Bucket and 5 other children draw golden tickets from Wonka chocolate bars and win a guided tour of the legendary candy factory that no outsider has seen in 15 years.  Dazzled by one amazing site after another, Charlie is drawn into Wonka's fantastic world.  This is the 2005 PG rated Johnny Depp version of the classic movie! Call the Library at 832-559-4235 for the official movie title.  Don't forget to bring a drink with a lid!

Black History Month Program!

The Children’s Area will celebrate Black History Month on Thursday, February 26th at 4:30 pm by offering a special program based on the life and contributions of George Washington Carver.  Learn about his research and promotion of alternative crops to cotton, such as peanuts, soybeans and sweet potatoes and make a yummy peanut snack!  This program is limited to 15 children, ages 7 – 12.  Call the library at 832-559-4235 to register.

It's Coming together or should I say apart?

Have you seen the latest?  We have completed step 3 in the new arrangement of the library.  We have a huge children's area for everyone to enjoy.  Tables and chairs are placed farther apart and we are anxious to have our first Summer Reading Program where everyone may sit and enjoy the show.  There is still more work to be done so pardon our mess and come in to enjoy our library.  If you have any suggestions, please feel free to let us know.  Look at the bulletin boards, no, they are not new just in a different place for all to enjoy.

Say Hello To Shamrock!

Almost everyday sitting at the Reference desk, I witness a little body or sometimes two making a straight beeline to the big stuffed horse we have in the Barbara Bush Branch Library Children’s Area shouting his name “Maaaaack!!” with pure delight on their faces. Well now to add to that joy, we are very delighted to announce that Mack has been joined by a friend and yes it’s another horse! His name is Shamrock and he is, unlike Mack, gray in color. He has come to us as a very kind donation by Wells Fargo, the Cypresswood branch, made possible for us by Mr. Samuel Edwards, the VP there. We are very grateful to them.
