April Programs in the Children's Department

    Join us in the Children's Department for fun and educational programs in April.  For babies, toddlers and preschoolers, we have our regular storytimes.  Babies (infants to 18 months old) have Book Babies on Wednesdays at 10:15 & 11:15 AM; Toddlers (18 months to 3 years old) have Toddler Time on Mondays at 11:15 and Tuesdays at 10:15 & 11:15 AM; and Preschoolers (3-5 years old) have Preschool Storytime on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 1:30 pm.  Each of these programs requires tickets.  They are free and given out 30 minutes before the program except for programs beginning at 10:15 am (those tickets are given out as soon as we open at 10:00 am).

February Programs for Children @ Freeman Library

February is the shortest month, but we won't be short of events to celebrate this month in the Children's Department.   Here are our special programs this month:

Thursday, February 13 @ 4:30 pm - Black History Month  - celebrate Black History Month with a fun weaving craft inspired by the colorful Kente cloth of Africa, music, a short movie, and a treat.  This program requires tickets.  They are free and available at the Kids Information Desk starting 30 minutes before the program.

December Events for Children

       December will be a busy month in the Children's Department.  Here are some of the fun and festive programs for children to enjoy.

Monday, December  2 - children 5-12 years old will decorate a holiday picture frame at 4:30 pm.  Tickets for this free program will be given out starting 30 minutes before the starting time.

October Events for Children

       It is hard to believe we're over a month into the school year.  If you are looking for something for your school-age child to do, we have several programs in October designed for children 5-12 years old.  Each program requires tickets. The tickets are free and given out 30 minutes before the program.

Paleontology for "ology" Thursday, September 26

A docent from the Houston Museum of Natural Science will be coming to the Children's Activity Room, Thursday, September 26, at 4 pm to bring a program about dinosaurs and fossils.  There will be a simple craft, too.

Radio Disney @ Your Library!... Say What!

Raise your hands if you love Disney. That’s good! I am impressed. I was hoping for that reaction. Why did I ask that, you say? Well it’s because that Radio Disney Road Crew along with Harris County Public Health and Environmental Services is presenting a fun program at Barbara Bush Branch.

If you are interested in having a wonderful time with games, dances and wait for it… Prizes, you wouldn’t want to miss it. See you at the library on Wednesday, August 21st at 11 AM

April Events in the Children's Department

         This is no April Fool's joke...join us for some fun children's programs this month.  We will have afterschool programs on several Monday afternoons at 4:30 pm.  On Monday, April 8, children ages 5-11 are invited to try out our new Legos.  We'll have these colorful plastic bricks in the Children's Activity Space for children to create their own masterpieces.   Due to limited quantities, these Legos cannot be taken home.  Parents are encouraged to bring a camera to take a picture of their child's creation.  On Monday, April 15, Bricks4Kids will be here for a program on creating Solar Panels.  This program is designed for children 5-11 years old.  On Monday, April 22, children can celebrate Earth Day by making recycled crafts.&nb...

Spring Break @ HCPL

Spring Break @ HCPL graphicSpring Break is coming up soon and if you're looking for fun, free ways to keep your kids and teens engaged and entertained, Harris County Public Library is just the ticket.
