Children's Weekly Run-Down

CHILDREN’S WEEKLY RUN-DOWN! Join us this week on Thursday the 27th of April @ 4 PM for our World Tour Book Club to explore different countries and their traditions and stories.

Our Story times continue as normal! Be here for Toddler Time** on Tuesday @ 10 AM and @ 10:30 AM, Preschool Storytime on Tuesday @ 2 PM, and Infant Lapsit Storytime @ 11:15 AM on Tuesday and @ 11 AM on Thursday. This week we will be celebrating Dia De Los ninos/libros at our Family Storytime presented on Saturday @ 10:30 with the Children's Express Theatre! A bilingual presentation, this story time will feature a time-traveling Aztec princess.

**Tickets required upon entry. Pick up your free ticket at the Children's Reference Desk before entering your story time. Tickets will be given to the first 30 children and their caregivers the day of the scheduled event.

Para los Ninos Bilingual Storytime

Join us on Wednesday, April 12th, at 6:00 pm for our Para los Ninos Bilingual Storytime!  Para los Niños is a fun, educational, bilingual workshop designed by the Children’s Museum of Houston for the whole family. We will be reading stories, singing songs and enjoying hands on learning activities that will make your child’s learning fun and exciting. This program is designed for children age 3-7 years old. Each family will be given a family ticket to the Children's Museum at the conclusion of the program. Space is limited and tickets will be handed out 30 minutes before the program

Roald Dahl's #Imaginormous Challenge Writing Contest

Roald Dahl's #imaginormous Challenge is here!  Do you have a child between the ages of 5 and 12 with a wacky imagination and a love for writing?  This contest may be for them!
 
 Roald Dahl's stories all started out as just a few lines written in various idea books. Out of these books came the tales we all love, including Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda, and  Fantastic Mr. Fox.

Watch a Banned Book today!

September 25, 2016-October 1, 2016 is Banned and Challenged Books Week. 

It is no surprise that many of these titles are well loved by many, and have been made into great films.  This list includes classic literature, children’s books and contemporary fiction titles. Treat yourself to a movie based on a banned or challenged book today!

The Great Gatsby In 1920s Long Island, a mysterious American millionaire's efforts to recapture the sweetheart of his youth result in tragedy.  There are two great versions of this film.  One released in 2013, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Carey Mulligan, and one released in 1974, starring Robert Redford and Mia Farrow.
