Community Craft – Star Wars Origami [All Ages] - Thursday, May 17th at 4 PM

 

Combining our love of the Star Wars Universe and celebrating Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, our children’s Community Craft will be Star Wars Oragami!

Learn to make different characters and creatures from the Star Wars Universe while using Japanese paper folding techniques.

The fun begins at 4 PM on Thursday, May 17th in the Library Community Room.

Community Craft – Paper Quilling [All Ages] - Thursday, May 17th at 4 PM

 

Paper quilling is an art form from the 14th century through the 17th century often used to decorate the covers of books with designs that copied the ironwork of the day.

Today, quilling is a paper craft art form that creates a variety of images and can be applied to many different surfaces and projects.

Join us for the adult Community Craft of paper quilling on May 17th at 4 PM in the Library Community Room.

Community Craft – Spring Hat [All Ages] - Thursday, April 19th at 4 PM

Springtime is here as we start to come out of our winter hidey holes and meet the new season.

For most of us, this means going out and about in the sun.

For our April Community Craft, we are going to be making a Spring Hat.

Join us in the Library Community Room on April 19th at 4 PM. 

Community Craft – Beading Bracelets [All Ages] - Thursday, March 15 at 3 PM

 

If you are looking for something to do for Spring Break, join us on Thursday, March 15th at 3 PM in the Library Community Room to learn some basic beading techniques as you will construct your own beaded bracelets. All ages, children and adults, are welcome.

Make A Valentine's Day Card [All Ages] - Monday, February 12 to Wednesday, February 14

 

Make your own Valentine's Day card for your sweetheart in the Library.

Just behind the Reference Desk will be supplies to make your V-Day cards. 

Supplies will be available during our open hours from February 12th through February 14th. 

Community Craft – Mardi Gras Masks [All Ages] - Thursday, February 8 at 4 PM

 

 

To get you ready for Mardi Gras on February 13, we are throwing our own Fat Thursday celebration.

Join us on February 8th at 4 PM in the library community room to make your own Mardi Gras mask to be ready for the big day.

Community Craft – Holiday Printmaking December 21st @ 4 PM [7+]

 

Printmaking is an art form where you carve or etch an image into a medium, roll ink or paint onto it, and press it to paper or canvas.

For this holiday season, we are going to be etching seasonal designs into foam plates and printing them onto paper.

Join us on December 21st at 4 PM to experiment with a new art in the Library Community Room. 

Community Craft – Cars (PG, 116 min) Drive-In June 16th @ 3 PM [10+]

 

 

In conjunction with the release of Cars 3, we will be hosting a Drive-In showing of the original Cars (PG, 116 min) at 3PM in the Library Community Room.

There will be cardboard, markers, and other materials available to make your own car.

Join us for the movie, car construction, and refreshments at the Parker Williams Branch. Refreshments will be provided by the Parker Williams Branch Friends of the Library.

Community Craft – Tulle Hula Skirts May 25th @ 4:30 PM [8+]

Hula skirts are one of the easiest symbols to identify Hawaiian culture. The dances of the native peoples are long steeped in the history and mythology of the islands. Each step and hand gesture is a careful expression.  

Join us on May 25th in the Library Community Room at 4:30 PM to make your own tulle hula skirt.

Learn a little more about Polynesian dance and culture while enjoying the sounds of the beach.
