Halloween Games for Tweens

Witch hat ring tossJoin us today for some fun Halloween Games during Tween Time at North Channel Library. 
Come in costume and ready to roll (pumpkin bowling).
Toss (witch's ring hat toss) your way into some chocolate treats. 
The activities begin at 4:30 pm so don't be late. 

**Tween Time is recommended for ages 10 - 12 years old.

Try on a Digital Costume During Tuesday Toddler Time

Halloween is around the corner, do you have your costume yet? If you do, wear it to any story time next week, but if not, no worries. During play time after Tuesday's toddler time, you will have the chance to create a 30 second video wearing the digital costume of your choice using the free FlipLip app on an Ipad. You can be a mermaid, a prince, a princess a pirate or even a stuffed bear. You may then choose the voice of a princess or a robot, a Chipmunk,  Zeuss and more. You video may even be selected to appear on our branch Facebook page. Call Christie in the children's department if  you have questions or we will see you at 10:30, Tuesday, October 27th.   








Teen Read Week: Costumes on the Cheap!

Come to our Teen Read Week Program: Costumes on the Cheap this Monday at 4:00pm.  Learn how to use what's already in your closet and things you can pick up at thrift stores for awesome Halloween and Cosplay costumes.  All teens are welcome!  There will be food and prizes!

Clowning Around at Aldine

Ber Ber the Clown visited the Aldine Library on the afternoon of Wednesday, June 5th in the first event for Summer Reading Program 2013. Ber Ber read a story to a group of children in attendance while another group of kids acted out the narrative in costumes (complete with a king and queen). Afterwards, Ber Ber sculpted animals from balloons for the children.

Mardi Gras Indians! Music! Costumes! History!

A real treat for kids and their grownups:  the Mardi Gras Indians from Young Audiences of Houston are coming to the Children's Activity Room Thursday, February 7, at 4 pm. There will be music, costumes, and history of these musicians.  This program is brought to you by FOLK, Friends of the Library Kingwood!  Please visit them and thank them for all they do to provide programs, craft materials,and all the extras!!

For Magical Monday, February 11, at 4 pm, it's Mardi Gras crafts. 

Wear Your Costume to Storytimes: October 26-31st

Kids, don't forget to wear your costumes to storytimes this week. Check out the Bear Creek children's calendar for more information about storytimes.

Halloween Infant Party

Some of the coolest Halloween wear for babies and barely toddlers was on parade at our Thursday Haloween Infant Time.  If you missed the party you can still take a look at some of these creative costumes.

Aldine Dresses Up

To celebrate the costume wearing season the Aldine Branch staff dressed up as some crazy characters! David, one of the circulation assistants, came as a Houston Public Library employee even though we are the Harris County Public Library. That David is one crazy guy.
