Come Celebrate Dia!

Dia clip artWe have Mother's Day and Father's Day, but what about Kid's Day? Join us for a special Story Time on May 1st at 10:30 am. We will celebrate children and books with stories, songs and a bookmark craft. Each child will also receive a free book!

Celebrate Día in the Children's Area!

 Come to the Children’s Area on Friday, April 27 at 10:30 am and celebrate Día!  Día is a nationally recognized initiative that emphasizes the importance of literacy for children from all backgrounds.  The common goals of all Día programming are:

  • • Celebrate children and connect them to the world of learning through books, stories and libraries.
  • • Nurture literacy development in ways that honor and embrace a child’s home language and culture.
  • • Introduce children to cultures, heritage and language through stories.

We have selected 3 awesome picture books to share with your children along with songs and crafts.  Join us for a fun morning!   *Recommended for children ages 3 – 6 and their families.

Dia De Los Ninos, Dia De Los Libros [5+] - Monday, April 30 at 7 PM

 

Dia De Los Ninos, Dia De Los Libros is a literacy holiday that celebrates children’s books written in Spanish.

It is important for children of all languages and cultures around the world learn how to read.

Join us in the Children’s Area of the library for a special bilingual storytime on Monday, April 30th at 7 PM. 

Children's Day / Book Day "DIY Hardcover Book"

Children's Day/Book Day (El día de los niños/El día de los libros) takes place on April 30th and celebrates children, families, reading, and the importance of literacy. School-age children are invited to join us to celebrate this important day by personalizing their own hardcover book with a variety of craft and decoration materials. Our DIY Hardcover Book program will take place next Wednesday April 25 at 4:30 PM and all materials will be provided.

Children's Book Day Program, April 25 @ 4 pm

Friendly Reminder

Tuesday, April 25th at 4:00 pm is our Children's Book Day program. There will be stories, music, activities, crafts and prizes. Registration is not required, but prizes are limited. 

 

 

Passport to the World Program!

  Pack your bags and travel around the world library style!  The Children's Department will be celebrating Día on Wednesday, April 26th at 5:00 pm!   Get your passport stamped, learn about Native Americans and "travel" to  Australia, Brazil, India, Italy and Kenya.  Explore these diverse cultures through music, snacks, crafts and activities!  This program is FREE and for children ages 6 - 12 and their familes!  Call 832-559-4235 to register!
