As promised, we have the first in a series of digital stories created by the teens of the Aldine Branch. The kids should be given much kudos for their hard work. They have taken time out of their busy schedules to flex their creative muscles for the community and it has paid off. Enjoy this first submission by Johana as we follow a very special trip down memory lane.

Be looking for further stories in the series to be posted in the coming weeks.
Previously, we shared that teens at the Aldine Branch Library were hard at work on their digital storytelling projects. Their efforts have really paid off and soon they will be ready to share their pieces. The first in the series is expected to be posted in the next couple weeks, so make sure you come back to checkout some really great stories.
Along with decorating the YA area of the Aldine Branch Library, the teens have immersed themselves in a digital storytelling project. They are busy writing, recording and editing brief movies that provide a bit of insight into what makes them who they are. Our study room was even converted into a makeshift recording booth while narration for their movies took place.
The kids are really excited about sharing their work, so keep an eye out for them as they come to a blog near you!
Teens, be looking for new programming in 2010 at the Aldine Branch. The Digital Storytelling class will be winding down for a while, as will the Study Hall on Tuesday. Don’t worry because they will be back. Until then, be on the lookout for expanded computer classes for teens and some different programs.
This Wednesday Digital Storytelling and Web 2.Yo! will switch start times. Digital Storytelling will start at 4 PM, while Web 2.Yo! will start an hour earlier at 3 PM. As of right now the change is a one-time event. We will let you know if the change ends up being permanent, so stay tune!
This Wednesday, September 9th, the Aldine Branch Library will bring back two programs for young adults. Teens are welcome to come to an introductory session for a digital storytelling class at 3 PM, as well as a Web 2.0 class at 4 PM. Both will be held in the computer lab. Come and learn some digital storytelling basics or review Web-based tools. Or, you can do both!
Space is limited. You can contact Ryan Fennell for more details.
Information for Persons with Disabilities: Harris County Public Library will make reasonable accommodations for persons with disabilities who are interested in attending library programs.
