Celebrate Earth Day and Space!

Earth Day and Space - 2 awesome and informative displays await you on your next visit to the Library!  On the first round shelf area you will find books and information on Space, planets and NASA's latest projects.  In the alcove area directly after that, you will find the Earth Day display.  Earth day is an annual initiative which began in 1970 to bring awareness and demonstrate support for environmental protection. Today, it is recognized with events held worldwide in over 193 countries!  Learn about it, get information on ways you can protect the Earth and check out some books.

As part of a committment by the staff of the library to a "year of giving", each month a worthy cause is chosen to contribute to.  This month, and in conjunction with Earth Day, the library has chosen the Tomball Community Center.  We are asking for donations of clean and dry plastic grocery bags which will be woven into sleeping mats for the homeless.  A large green box is located near the base of the display for the collection of these bags.  Thank you in advance for helping us to recycle and give back to our community!

To Rhyme or Not To Rhyme...

magnetic poetryApril is National Poetry Month! Every year since 1996 the Academy of American Poets has led a month long celebration of poetry. The goal is to show the American public that there is more to poetry than words penned by stuffy, long-dead poets. Our American literary heritage has always been rich in poetry, but we also have living poets writing words of inspiration, beauty and wit.
