Artist's Date this Thursday!

Drop your chores, bring your lunch and your art supplies, and join us in the front room of the library for our summer Artist’s Date Thursday, August 7th. Beginning at 10:00, we’ll spend the morning doing our own art project; then we’ll have lunch, and at 1:00, artist Gabe Riquelme will help us learn how to do believable figure drawing.

Friends of the Library Drawing Winner

Congratulations to Susan Meeks from the West University Branch Library!  Susan is the winner of the Harris County Friends of the Library drawing for a new Kindle Paperwhite and cover.  Thanks to our generous donors and to all who participated to support the Friends and HCPL!  Funds raised will be used to support summer reading programs at all Harris County branches.

For more information about supporting the Harris County Friends of the Library, visit www.hcfol.org or volunteer for your local Friends group and make a difference in your community.

Holiday Creations

Want to help us decorate for the holidays?  Bring in your holiday or winter themed artwork and we will put it on display for all to see and admire.  Create an intricate paper snowflake or a construction paper snowman like the one behind our front desk.  You can also find many holiday themed craft ideas near 745.594 in the non-fiction area.  Worried about your creative skills?  Fret not!  Throughout December, we will have various coloring pages for our patrons to scribble on.

Trade Sketches with Sketch Swap

Sketch Swap is a fabulous website where you draw or sketch online, click submit, and instantly receive a realtime sketch in return.  The website approves every sketch submitted before it's sent out to others, and does not accept any drawing that wouldn't be appropriate for children, so kids and adults can both enjoy the website.
