BunnyThis event has been canceled due to bad weather.  (3/20/2015)

Ever had your picture taken with Peter Rabbit?  You can do that and more at the City of Katy's annual Easter weekend event, Baskets and Bunnies on 3/21 from 10:00am - 2:00pm at Harvest Plaza.  For more information, click here.

Visit the Easter Bunny

Easter BunnyThis Saturday, you could have brunch with the Easter Bunny in downtown Katy!  Stop by Harvest Plaza at 5701 Third Street from 10:00am to noon.  Enjoy a light meal, games, and crafts while you wait for your picture with the big Bunny himself.  If you bring your baskets, volunteers will be on hand to help you decorate them in preparation for Easter.  And, be sure to visit the monthly Katy Market Days event afterward.

Bouncy Bunny Books

While I anxiously await my yearly delivery of sugary treats, my thoughts hop over to bunnies.  I do love a good bunny book. You may know the rabbits from Goodnight Moon, Peter Rabbit and the Velveteen Rabbit, but here are some of my other favorite (non-chocolate) bunnies:

Beautiful Eggs

I know it's still March, but I'm already thinking about Easter.  I'm all excited about making these beautiful Ukrainian Easter Eggs!  They are very labor intensive but well worth the effort.  Tuesday, April 8th from 2:00 pm till 5:00 pm we will be learning how to make these wonderful eggs!  Notice the extended meeting time.  We will need extra time to finish these eggs.  I will provide whole, raw eggs, and everything else you need.  You are welcome to bring a blown out egg to decorate if you are uncomfortable about keeping a raw egg.  I assure you it is safe and will dry out in the shell and will not stink!  Space is limited so you will have to sign up here

Easter Traditions

This year, Easter is celebrated on the last day of March in the Western world. If you're curious about a few of the typical traditions surrounding the holiday, try these books:

Decorate A Giant Egg @ North Channel

easter eggKids, decorate your own giant egg!  We'll be decorating giant eggs made out of poster board with glitter, sequins, jewels and more.  Come make an egg and enjoy some bunny treats too!  The fun starts at 4:30 pm on Wednesday, March 20th.  Be sure to hop on by!

Happy Holidays

No, that’s not a typo.  This is a Springtime edition of Happy Holidays, because this weekend brings us both Passover and Easter.  These are celebrations that bring families together and encourage even the youngest members to participate.  While tradition usually dictates our observance of the holidays, there are also DVDs and videos for children that give us the true meanings of the holidays – and some of the fun things, too.
