Precinct 4 Fun4Seniors Events

BatsIn September, Harris County Precinct 4’s Fun4Seniors program will be sponsoring two bus trips starting from the library parking lot. Contact the Senior Adult Program at 281-893-3726 for more information about all of their offerings for adults age 50+.
On Saturday, September 10, take a trip to Caldwell, Texas, for the Kolache Festival. This trip is free. The bus departs at 8:30 am and returns at 5:00 pm.

Upcoming Events for Seniors 50+

• A trip to the Bryan Museum in Galveston on July 15, $10, departing from Fairbanks Library at 9 am.
• A group volunteer outreach to the Star of Hope Mission on August 2, free, departing from Fairbanks Library at 8:15am.
• A bus trip to the Annual Precinct 4 Opry at the Humble Convention Center on August 12, $15, departing from Jersey Village Baptist Church at 4:30pm.

Explore Galveston’s Bryan Museum!

Bryan MuseumThis beautiful former orphanage houses 70,000 items representing the history of southwestern United States from ancient Native American cultural artifacts to extraordinary 21st century pieces. Treasures include exquisite saddles, spurs, antique firearms, folk art and fine art, exceptionally rare maps and books, and rare German, French, Spanish, and English documents. Harris County Precinct 4’s Senior Adult Program offers tickets and transportation to adults age 50 and better. This trip is on January 22 and costs $6 per person plus the cost of your lunch at Olympia Grill before the museum visit. The bus will leave the library parking lot at 9 a.m. and return at 5 p.m.

Easy Way to Go to “Dickens on the Strand”

Dickens-StrandMaybe you’ve always wanted to go to “Dickens on the Strand” in Galveston, but you were worried about driving down there and hassling with parking. Well, if you’re age 50 or better, the Precinct 4 Senior Adult Program has solved your problems. For only $10, they will take you down there and bring you back on a comfortable bus. The bus will leave the Fairbanks Library parking lot at 10 am on Saturday, December 5, and return at 6 pm.

A-MAZE-ing Fall Fun4Seniors

Dewberry FarmAge 50 or better?  Hop a Precinct 4 bus for a quick trip to Brookshire to explore the 8-acre corn maze at Dewberry Farm!  The farm has added some brainteasers to the maze for another dimension of fun.  While you’re there, grab some lunch at the concession stand.  The cost of the trip is $7 per person plus whatever you spend on lunch.  The bus will leave the library parking lot at 10:30 am.  For reservations or more information, call Precinct 4’s Senior Adult Program at 281-893-3726.

Fall Festival Fun!

Scarecrow Festival 2015Get into the spirit of fall at the Scarecrow Festival in Chappell Hill! Harris County Precinct 4 is offering free transportation for seniors age 50 or better from St. Luke’s Hospital at the Vintage on Saturday, October 10, departing at 9 am and returning at 5 pm.

The Next 50+ Adventure!

Buffalo Bayou BoatJoin the Precinct 4 Fun4Seniors group on Thursday, October 8, for a guided tour on the Spirit of the Bayou pontoon boat through the heart of downtown Houston along the historic Buffalo Bayou.  Starting at Allen’s Landing, our city’s birthplace, view the redeveloped Sesquicentennial Park and Sabine Promenade. Next, visit Phoenicia Specialty Foods for lunch (at your own expense).

Texas Rice Festival with Fun4Seniors

Johnny LeeTake a fun trip to the Texas Rice Festival in Winnie with the Precinct 4 Seniors on Saturday, October 3. The Festival features amazing food, live entertainment, pageants, an arts and crafts show, an art and photography exhibit, an antique car show, livestock shows, and all kinds of contests. There is no charge for seniors 65 and older. Tickets are $10 for adults under 65 and can be purchased at the gate. Lunch is on your own at the festival. Bus transportation is provided from the Fairbanks Library departing at 10:30 a.m.

Shopping bagsPrecinct 4’s Fun4Seniors is sponsoring a Resale Shop Hop on Tuesday, August 18, for shoppers age 50 and better. Make new friends while visiting Houston’s premier resale shops, which benefit local charities. Get the latest and greatest in designer and high-quality clothing from the Guild Shop, Charity Guild Shop, and Blue Bird Circle Shop. Cost is FREE and lunch is on your own at Katz’s Deli.
