Autumn is Approaching

The heat wave has diminished, kids are back in school, and football season is around the corner. Autumn is approaching. Stay tuned to our Aldine branch library online calendar for the latest on upcoming events during the months of September and October. A Fall Festival for kids, free haircuts for children, and some tasty treats for adults are on the horizon. Don't miss out.

Fall into a good book at Aldine

Hey there, Aldine! I heard there may be some cooler weather rolling into the Houston area this weekend. Just in time, too, because we've got some new Fall and Halloween related titles coming in to the library that are really spooktacular. Come by and take a look. Get ready for Autumn!

Pumpkin Patch, I Spy Game @ the Library

Last month, we unveiled our I Spy @ the Library game, and over 100 children participated. As promised, this month we will continue the fun with a new theme.  As we go into the fall season, children will have an opportunity to earn a pumpkin die cut, and one prize from the treasure box. Readers and non-reader alike are encouraged to participate.

Apple Season

In Houston, we do not yet see the autumn leaves change in color, but we certainly have the ability to enjoy the fall harvest.

One of the things that I truly look forward to in the fall are apples.  I hope that you enjoy the selection of books below; you will find that some focus on a more traditional theme  and others are lighthearted and playful.

Take a "Paws" @ Katy Library

With the advent of beautiful fall weather, there’s no better time than the present to take your furry pal to the dog park on Franz Road, right next door to Katy Library. If you don’t have a dog yet, or Fido needs to brush up on his manners before he can go to the park, stop by Katy Library and peruse our resources for dog owners.
