Ever After (Hollows Book 11) by Kim Harrison

The demonic realm, the ever-after, is shrinking and if it disappears, so does magic.  And it happens that it is witch and day-walking demon Rachel Morgan's fault.

After causing a rip in the ley line a chain of events was set off that could cause a world apocalypse. Rachel must find a way to save the people she cares about, keep the balance between the human and demon worlds, and oh, and if she fails, her life is forfeit.

THE LIBRARY CHALLENGE

THE LIBRARY CHALLENGE One of my personal treats in the summer is participating in the Adult Summer Reading Program. I‘m not competing with anyone but myself, and I don’t set my goal too high to reach. While I do not read as much my friends and co-workers, I do enjoy reading. I have my favorite authors and do not step too far from regular fiction, romance and mystery. So in the summer, I challenge myself to read something outside of my norm. One year I read a western. I enjoyed it. Last year I tried a fiction that took place in another continent. I enjoyed that one too. This year I am going to stretch myself with a fantasy. I don’t plan to switch all my reading to a different genre, just sprinkle a little in with my regular stuff. You know, like salt and pepper, just to add a little flavor in my summer.

Get Your Geek On @ 3 Local Conventions

One of the advantages of being a geek in a large city is the wonderful conventions in my own backyard. I admit it. I am a con addict. I have been going to fandom conventions since 1984 and will probably still be going when I have to incorporate my walker into my cosplay. During March and April, I have three opportunities to get my geek on with one comic/scifi/fantasy convention and two anime conventions in town.

Clear Lake Science Fiction & Fantasy Book Group

Do you love to read Science Fiction and/or Fantasy books?  The Clear Lake Science Fiction & Fantasy Book Group meets the 1st Thursday of every month at 6:30 p.m. in the 2nd Floor Conference Room.  Come share your favorites with others, and hear what they have to say about the books they've read.  There is no assigned reading for this book club, so no need to stress over not having finished a book.  The next meeting is Thursday, March 4th at 6:30 p.m., and we hope to see you there!

Inkheart

Saw Inkheart last night and really enjoyed it. It's based on a children's book by Cornelia Funke and tells the story of a "silvertongue" who brings books to life when he reads out loud. This means unicorns, flying monkeys, and other fictional creations come into our world. Unfortunately, this means the villians come too, and this leads to all kinds of complications.
