New Program: Toddlers-in-Motion starts Friday, June 30 @ 10:15 am

Toddlers from 18 months old through 3 years old have a new monthly program to look forward to starting this  Friday, June 30 at 10:15 am.   This movement and music program will include playing with new, developmentally appropriate toys.  Children are encouraged to dress in comfortable clothes such as pants, shirts, and tennis shoes because they'll be having fun jumping around and settling to the floor while they play and learn.  This month's activities focus on the  alphabet.  Tickets are required.  They are free and available when the library opens at 10:00 am.

Thomas Davis "The Snakeman" visits Freeman Library on Thursday, June 29 for shows at 2:30 and 3:30 pm

   Psst...snakes in the library...Thursday, June 29, 2017...for shows at 2:30 and 3:30 pm.  Snakeman, Thomas Davis, will bring an assortment of snakes to show children on Thursday afternoon.   Mr. Davis will talk about the snakes and then pass them to teen and adult volunteers to hold so that children can get a good look at the snakes and touch them.   This program is recommended for children 5 years and older.   Tickets are required.  They are free and available starting 30 minutes before each session.

Magician Mick Corley visits Freeman Library on Thursday, June 22 for shows at 2:30 and 3:30 pm

Magician Mick Corley visits Freeman Library on this Thursday, June 22 at 2:30 & 3:30 pm for magic, puppets, humor and mime.  Mick always has the children rolling in the aisles with laughter as he brings up a few children to assist with his tricks.   He also reminds children of the importance of reading in their everyday life.

Tickets are required.  They are free and available in the Children's Department starting 30 minutes before each session.   This program is reommended for children 5 yreas and older.  Due to space limiations in the meeting room, please do not bring baby strollers into the room.

Summer Reading Program 2017 starts on Monday, June 5

The 2017 Summer Reading Program officially starts on Monday, June 5.   The theme this year is "Build a Better World".   Children will be able to read and do activties to earn points towards a variety of rewards. Children can earn 5 points by reading 20 minutes, writing a review of a book, or doing an activity.  They can earn 10 points by reading a whole book.  Here are the rewards: 100 points - a fun sticker; 200 points - a Chipotle gift card; 300 points - a "Build a Better World" magnet; 400 points - a book from our treasure chest; and 500 points - an amazing medal.

Asian Pacific American Heritage Month Celebration on Thursday, May 18 @ 4:30 pm

  Children from babies through 12 years old will enjoy celebrating Asian Pacific Heritage Month at Freeman Library this Thursday, May 18 @ 4:30 pm.   We'll have  crafts, music, activities and foods from a variety of nations in Asia.  Tickets are required.  They are free and available in the Children's Dept. at 4:00 pm.  Thank you to the Friends of Freeman Library for supporting this program and others throughout the year.

Next Baby Playtime is on Friday, May 19 at 10:00 am

  Join us Friday, May 19 at 10:00 am for Baby Playtime.  This program for babies from infants through 18 months features board books, toys, and bubbles.  We also include a creative project for baby and caregiver.  This month, we'll be making a cute giraffe with fingerprints.  No tickets are needed for this fun outing.  Thank you to the Friends of Freeman Library for their generous financial support of this program throughout the years.

 

Teens: Join us for an open house for summer volunteers on Saturdays May 6 @ 10:30 am or May 20 @ 2:00 pm

Teens:  Can you believe summer is just around the corner?  Are you looking for volunteer time this summer?  Join us this Saturday, May 6 @ 10:30 am or Saturday, May 20 @ 2 pm to find out about summer volunteer opportunities in the Children's Department at Freeman.  We'll have a brief talk about volunteer guidelines and then volunteers can sign up for volunteer shifts for the summer reading program.  Parents are welcome to attend.

Family Storytime on Saturday, May 6 @ 11:00 am

Looking for something fun and free to do on Saturday morning before you have lunch?  Join us for Family Storytime on the first and third Satrudays of the month (May 6 and May 20) at 11:00 am.  This 30 minute storytime features books, songs, and fingerplays.   No tickets are needed for this program.  We meet in the Children's Department in the area where the puppet stage/blocks are housed.  Thank you to the Friends of Freeman Library for supporting the purchase of supplies for this program throughout the year.

Tween Improv Program on Friday, May 5 @ 4:00 pm

Tweens 8-12 years old who like acting or comedy, will enjoy attending the Tween Improv program on Friday, May 5 @ 4:00 pm.  Tweens will get tips on how to perform and they can practice acting out scripted scenarios.  This will be a low-key opportunity for tweens to work together and gain confidence speaking out in a group.  Tickets are required.  They are free and available at the Kids Information Desk at 3:30 pm. 

Pajama Storytime on Thursday,May 4 @ 6 pm.

Want to get out of the house in the evening before it's time to put the children to bed?  Let them wear their cute pajamas or slippers to Pajama Storytime this Thursday, May 4 @ 6 pm.  We'll have stories, songs, and a fun craft to get them ready for bedtime.  This program requires tickets.  They are free and available starting at 5:30 pm.  Children are welcome to birng a stuffed animal friend or blanket to the program, too.  Thank you to the Friends of Freeman Library for their support in purchasing materials for this program.
