Tween Afternoon Art Program on Wednesday, April 11 @ 4:30 pm

Tweens 8-12 years old can learn about art history when they attend Tween Afternoon Art on Wednesday, April 11 at 4:30 pm.  Tweens will learn about the Fauvist Movement in art and then do an art project inspired by the movement.   Tickets will be given out at the Kids Information Desk at  4:00 pm.   This art history program continues on Wednesdays - April 18 (Cubism) and April 25 (Expressionism) at 4:30 pm.   Thank you to the Friends of Freeman Library for supporting this program with art supplies.

April Events in the Children's Department

Looking for some fun activities for the children in April?  Here are some events we will have in the Children's Department.

Maker Monday - 4/2, 4/9, 4/16, 4/23 and 4/30 at 4:30 pm.  This weekly afterschool program for children 5-12 years old features a craft or activity.  Tickets given out at 4:00 pm.

Tween Afternoon Art - 4/4, 4/11, 4/18, and 4/25 at 4:30 pm.  This weekly art history program is for children 8-12 years old.  It will feature historical information and an art activity each week in April..  Tickets given out at 4:00 pm.

Family Storytime - Saturdays 4/7 and 4/21 at 11:00 am.  These storytimes features stories, songs, and fingerplays for the whole family.  No tickets are needed for this program.

March Book Club on Wednesday, March 28 @4:30 pm

  We'll be featuring Beverly Cleary's Beezus And Ramona in the March Book Club this Wednesday, March 28 at 4:30 pm..  This monthly program features a book along with an activity such as a craft or viewing a movie adaptation of the book.   We'll start out with a brief summary of the book and then view a movie adaptation.  Snack will be provided. Free tickets given out at 4:00 pm.  reommended for children 5-12 years old.

Join us for Toddlers in Motion and Tween Tabletop Games on Friday, March 23

   The Children's Department will have two fun programs this Friday, March 23.  At 10:15 am, toddlers 18 months to 3 years will enjoy dancing and playing during Toddlers in Motion.  Tickets are given out at 10:00 am.   Tweens 8-12 years old will enjoy Tabletop Games of traditional board games, puzzles and some newer games. at 4:00-5:30 pm.  Tickets will be given out at 3:30 pm.   Thank you to the Friends of Freeman Library for supporting these and other programs throughout the year.

Books Alive! Week Activities March 12-16

The Friends of Freeman Library invite children and ttheir grown-ups to a fun celebration of books with a week of programs during Books Alive!

Freeman celebrates Dr. Seuss' Birthday on Thursday, March 1 @ 4:30 pm

   Freeman Library children will celebrate the birth of Dr. Seuss on this Thursday, March 1 at 4:30 pm.   We'll have fun crafts, activities, coloring sheets, and a tasty treat to honor his birthday.  This program requires tickets.   They are free and given out starting 30 before the program.   Thank you to the Friends of Freeman Library for supporting this celebration.

Valentine's Crafts Program on Friday, February 9 @ 4:30 pm

  Children can make some fun valentine crafts this Friday, February 9 at 4:30 pm.   We'll have two heart crafts and a tasty valentine treat.  This program is recommended for children 3 years and older.  Tickets are required.  They are free and available in the Children's Department at 4:00 pm.

Celebrate Chinese New Year on Thursday, February 8 @ 4:30 pm

  Freeman Library's Children's Department will celebrate Chinese New Year with crafts, music, and a tasty treat on Thursday, February 8 at 4:30 pm.  This program is recommended for the whole family.  Tickets are required.  They are free and given out 30 minutes before the program.  This program always is popular, so we recommend that children and their grownup arrive about 20 minutes before the tickets are distributed.   Thank you to the Friends of Freeman Library for supporting this type of program.

Astronaut Stephanie D. Wilson visits Freeman Library on Thursday, February 1 @ 6pm

  The Children's Department of Freeman Library celebrates African American Heritage Month with a visit by Astronaut Stephanie D. Wilson on Thursday, February 1 at 6:00 pm.  Ms. Wilson will talk about her journey to becoming an astronaut.  She has an inspiring story - she has been on 3 space missions that have put her in space for 42 days.  After Ms. Wilson's talk, we'll have a rocket craft and a matching game as well as a book display and activity sheets.  This program is recommended for children 3-12 years old along with their caregiver.  Tickets are required.  They are free and available in the Children's Department starting at 5:30 pm.

Family Storytime on Saturday,January 20 @ 11:00 am

Planning to get out of the house and enjoy the milder weather this Saturday?  Drop on by the Children's Department at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 20 for Family Storytime.  We'll have stories, songs, and fingerplays for the whole family for about 30 minutes in the Children's Area.  You don't have to worry about getting a ticket for this program, just drop on in.   Thank you to the Friends of Freeman Library for supporting the creation of materials for this progam.
