Bi-lingual Chinese/English Storytime at 6:00 pm on Monday, May 1

Looking to expose your child to another language or keep them attuned to their family language? Hoin us on the first Monday of the month (May 1)  at 6 pm for a Bi-lingual Chinese/English storytime.  This program is designed for children of all ages.  It features stories and songs in Chinese as well as English.  It usually incudes a fun craft or activity at the end.   Tickets are required .  They are free and available at the Kids Information Desk starting at 5:30 pm.   Thank you to the Friends of Freeman for assisting us with the purchase of materials for this fun program.

Maker Monday on Monday, May 1 @ 4:30 pm features Straws & Connectors

Children 5-12 years old can get creative this Monday May 1 at 4:30 pm during Maker Monday.  We'll be using straws and connectors to make structures!   Children can use the written directions on how to make some structiures or use their imagination and come up with  amazing new creations!  Tickets are required.  They are free and available from the Kids Information Desk at 4:00 pm.

May Programs in the Children's Department

Please join us for some of these upcoming programs in the Children's Department.  The programs normally require tickets.  They're free and available 30 minutes before the program except for 10:15 am programs - tickets are given out when we open at 10:00 am.

Regular storytimes: Book Babies for infants-18 months old  (Wednesdays at 10:15 & 11:15 am); Toddler Time for 18 months-3yrs (Monday at 11:15 and Tuesday at 10:15 & 11:15 am) and Preschool Storytime for 3-5 yrs (Tuesday and Wednesday at 1:30 pm).

Maker Mondays - This afterschool program is for 5-12 year olds on Mondays at 4:30 pm;  We'll have Straws & Connectors on 5/1; Create with Foam on 5/8; Lego Free Play on 5/15; and a Marble Run on 5/22.

Bi-Lingual Chinese English Storytime on Monday, May 1 at 6:00 pm for all ages.

Join us for Dia de los Ninos - Dia de los Libros (Children's Book Day) on Thursday, April 27 @ 4:30 pm

Children and families can celebrate the love of books and reading this Thursday, April 27 @ 4:30 pm.  We'll have a brief bi-lingual storytime with a book read in Spanish and English.  Then we'll use colorful tissue paper to make a flower and design a banner.  We'll also have refreshments.  Tickets are required.  They are free and available starting 30 minutes before the program.  Thank you to the Friends of Freeman Library for supporting this program and many others through the year.

Baby Playtime Fun on Friday, April 21 @ 10:00 am

Babies from infants through 18 months old will have fun hanging out with each other and their caregiver this Friday, April 21 @ 10:00 am.   In addition to fun toys, colorful board books, and amazing bubbles, we'll have an art project for baby to do.  No tickets are needed for this program.   Thank you to the Friends of Freeman Library for suporting the purchase of toys, books, and bubles over the years.

MaKer Monday Features Lego Free Play on Monday, April 17 @ 4:30 pm

  Children 5-12 years will enjoy building fun Lego structures on this Monday, April 17 at 4:30 pm.   This fun program is part of the weekly Maker Monday which features an activity or craft each week.   Ticket are required.  They are free and available at the Kids Information Desk starting at 4:00 pm.  Thank you to the Friends of Freeman Library for their generous donations to this program.

Joining 1,001 Books Before Kindergarten is a great way to celebrate National Library Week!

  Freeman Library just awarded a 1,001 Books Before Kindergarten certificate to our beaming young reader to the left.    This fun program encourages literacy and library use by letting children color in a star for each time they read a book or have it read to them.  The children get a pamphlet with an animal picture to color and 100 stars to fill in.  There are 10 pamphlets to go through in the program.  At 1,001 books, the child will get a certificate of completion.  This program is free and families can do it at their own pace.   Libraries around the country will be celebrating National Library Week starting April 9 - what better way to kick off National Library Week than to visit Freeman Library and pick up a 1,001 Books Before Kindergarten pamphlet!

Maker Monday features Magnetic Mosaics on Monday, April 10 @ 4:30 pm

  Children 5-12 years old will enjoy Maker Monday this Monday, April 10 at 4:30 pm when they get to put together amazing pictures using magnetic tiles.  This fun program uses kits with directions on where to place the tiles to make a picture.  The children also can use their imagination to create new pictures using the tiles.  Tickets are required for this program.  The tickets are free and given out starting at 4:00 pm..

Tween Gardening Program on Friday, April 7 @ 4:30 pm

Tweens 8-12 years old can start learning the fundamentals of herb gardening this Friday, April 7 at 4:30 pm.  The participants will learn a little about growing plants from seed and then get to start their own garden to take home.   Tickets are required.  They are free and available starting at 4:00 pm.

Pajama Storytime on Thursday, April 6 at 6:00 pm

Looking for something fun to get the children ready for bed?  Join us this Thursday, April 6 for Pajama Storytime at 6 pm.  We'll have funny stories, lots of movement, and great craft at the end.  This program is held monthly on the first Thursday of the month.
