WANTED! Book Donations!

Do you have bookshelves full of new or gently-used paperbacks, hardbacks, VHS movies or magazines and do not know what to do with them?  The Friends of the South Houston Library will gladly accept your donations!  For questions or more information please call the branch at 713-941-2385.  All proceeds from donations benefit future library programs at the South Houston Library.

A special thanks

Thanks to all of you who braved the cold last Saturday to participate in our Friends of the Library Birthday Bargains book sale. We appreciate everyone who donated gently used books to the Friends, either to add to our collection or to sell to raise funds for library programming. We also appreciate our Friends and staff who put in hours of work preparing for the sale. And especially we are deeply grateful to all of you who bought books. We hope you enjoy them! Please come back on Saturday, January 31st and celebrate our tenth anniversary.

Thank You For Being a Friend

This week (October 19 – 25) is the ninth annual celebration of National Friends of Libraries Week. The Harris County Friends of the Library would like to thank all of the branch library Friends groups for their contributions of time and expertise to significantly enhance the services our library system offers. Raising funds to purchase materials to supplement the library's collection, buying special equipment and supplies, and funding special programs for all ages are just a few of the ways you support our libraries.

Libraries are the cornerstones of their communities providing opportunities for everyone to engage in the joy of life-long learning and connect with the thoughts and ideas of others from ages past to the present. We thank the Friends groups across the county for all they do to make our libraries and communities so much better.

THANK YOU!

Come to the Library's Holiday Celebration this Saturday!

Come to the library on SATURDAY, December 1, for the HOLIDAY CELEBRATION starting at 2 pm. Meet Santa, enjoy tap dance performances, and enjoy the holiday spirit. This is but another great program hosted by the Friends of the Library.

BOOK SALE THIS SATURDAY

This Saturday, from 10 am to 2 pm, you can buy gently used books at bargain prices at Tomball Library. The sale, sponsored by the Friends of the Library, will take place in the first floor meeting room--Room L 129--behind the Adult Fiction department.

The Friends of the Library is a non-profit support group that, through its fundraising efforts, funds library programs. Throughout the year the Friends operate a small book sale room off the main entrance. But this Saturday, tables and tables of fiction and non-fiction, paperbacks and hardcover books, steamy romances and boilerplate thrillers--and probably DVD's and VHS's--will be awaiting your inspection. Come and select stocking stuffers for your loved ones.

Plant & Book Festival

Friends of the Library are presenting their annual Plant & Book Festival on Friday, March 25 10am-5pm and Saturday, March 26 10am-4pm.  Plants of every kind & color are available.  The many books include something for everyone.  Consider coupons from 60 area restaurants and businesses.  Sweet Tomatoes will serve complimentary refreshments.
