Cultivating A Love For The Written Word

A lot of kids don't think they like poetry that is until, they listen to someone read a book that is funny.  So, in honor of National Poetry Month, I would like to highlight two books that will tickle your funny bone.

Books to Tickle Your Funny Bone

In my opinion, there are few things more delightful than, to hear the giggling laughter of  children.  My booklist this week is dedicated to those wonderful authors and illustrators who understand their inner child and share it with the world.

Murphy Meets the Treadmill by Harriet Ziefert

Do You Have A Bad Kitty Addiction?

Please, don't be mad at me!!!  I realize that it is only September and Christmas is several months away. So, why in the world would I even think of of Christmas yet?  It's Bad Kitty's fault.

I, like many of you out there, love Bad Kitty.  So, when I discovered that Nick Bruel's newest book is on order, I knew instantly that I wanted to share the news with you. Therefore, it  simple did not matter that it is a Christmas book.

Dog Detective Rules!

“Stakeouts: I’ve sat through a million.”    This line is from Dog on It, a mystery I am really enjoying. How can you not like a book narrated by a street smart dog? This is a fast-paced story, told from the dog’s point of view and features the adventures of Chet the dog and his owner Bernie, a private investigator who’s often down on his luck.
The lines are classic canine: “She wore a robe and had curlers in her hair and some green stuff smeared all over her face… Oops. I caught myself growling. Very bad, but she was scary.”

Finger Lickin' Good!

Just finished Finger Lickin' Fifteen by Janet Evanovich. I love this series, not so much for the mystery, as for the hilarious characters and the mishaps that befall, Stephanie Plum, an inept but spunky bounty hunter in Trenton, NJ.
