We would like to thank theAmerican Association of University Women- North Harris County Branch for the generous grants it has awarded the Barbara Bush and Northwest branch libraries. The $1500 grant Barbara Bush Branch received will go toward expanding the library's early reader collection. Northwest Branch received the Special Award in Memory of Dr. Massy Williams. The grant which reflects Dr. Williams' passion for science, will fund the library's Discover & Build Bots program. Discover and Build Bots actually consists of two programs, one for children, grades 3 – 5, and the other for teens and tweens, grades 6 -12.
Earlier this year, the Texas State Library & Archives Commission (TSLAC) awarded grants to Harris County Public Library for three exciting projects that target specific populations that will provide them with new skills to increase their quality of life now and create better opportunities in the future.
HCPL Robotics and Coding for K - 12 aims to spark interest in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) and enhance digital literacy by giving participants hands-on experience building robot models and programming robots actions using graphics-based software.
