Meet the Houston Astros' mascot Orbit on Thursday, July 27 at 2:30 & 3:30 pm

   Houston Astros fans can show their team spirit this Thursday, July 27 by coming out to see the team mascot, Orbit, as he does shows at 2:30 & 3:30 pm.  Orbit uses humor and music to demonstrate the importance of summer reading for children.  This program is recommended for children 3 years and older.    Tickets are required.  They are free and available starting 30 minutes before each session.   Thank you to the Friends of Freeman Library for supporting this fun program and many others throughout the year.  Freeman Library opens at 1 pm on Thursdays.

Toddlers-in Motion returns on Friday, July 21 at 10:15 am

   Toddlers from 18 months old through 3 years old will enjoy lots of activity during Toddlers-in-Motion at 10:15 am on Friday morning.  This fun and active program requires tickets.  They are free and available when the library opens at 10:00 am.  The children are encouraged to wear lose clothes and comfortable shoes to help them move around a bit.  They'll also enjoy playing with some new Toddler-approved toys that have been purchased through the generous donations of the Friends of Freeman Library.

Happy the Clown visits Freeman Library on Thursday, July 20 for shows at 2:30 & 3:30 pm

 Happy the Clown spreads his magic and jokes around when he visits Freeman :Library on Thursday, July 20 at 2:30 and 3:30 pm.   This program is recommended for children 3 years and older.  Tickets are required.  They are free and available starting 30 minutes before each session.  Due to limited space in the room, strollers will not be admitted to the performance area.   Thank you to the Friends of Freeman Library for their generous support of this program.

Family Storytime this Saturday, July 15 @ 11:00 am

   After a tasty Saturday morning breakfast, children and their grownups may want to join us on  this Saturday morning, July 15 at 11:00 am for stories and songs during Family Storytime.  No tickets are needed for this fun program.  So, come and join us for stories and songs with a fish theme.  Thank you to the Friends of Freeman Library for supporting this program and many others throughout the year.

Baby Playtime on Friday, July 14 @ 10:00 am

Babies from infants through 18 months old will enjoy hanging with other babies and their families at Baby Playtime this Friday morning, July 14 at 10:00 am.   This fun program lasts for 1 hour and includes board books, toys, and bubbles galore!  No tickets are needed for this monthly program.   Thank you to the Friends of Freeman Library for supporting this program through the years.

Houston Audubon Society brings birds on Thursday, July 13 @ 2:30 & 3:30 pm

  Children will enjoy learning about birds from Mary Anne Weber of the Houston Audubon Society on Thursday, July 13 at 2:30 & 3:30 pm.  She'll bring some of her fine-feathered friends for children to see up close.  This program is recommended for children 5 years and older.  Tickets are required.  They are free and available 30 minutes before each session.   Thank you to the Friends of Freeman Library for supporting this progam and other programs this summer.

Not a Box Craft Program on Thursday, July 6 at 2:30 & 3:30 pm

 When is a box...not a box?  When it is turned into an amazing creation by a young child.  Children 3-12 years old can get their creative juices flowing on Thursday, July 6 at 2:30 and 3:30 pm.  We'll provide a variety of boxes, decorative materials, and lots of tape and glue sticks for children to use their imagination.  This program requires tickets.  They are free and available starting 30 minutes before each session.  Thank you to the Friends of Freeman Library for support of this program and others this summer.   Just a reminder..Freeman opens at 1 pm on Thursdays.  We recommend that children arrive 15-20 minutes before tickets are to be given out to wait in line for a ticket.

New Program: Toddlers-in-Motion starts Friday, June 30 @ 10:15 am

Toddlers from 18 months old through 3 years old have a new monthly program to look forward to starting this  Friday, June 30 at 10:15 am.   This movement and music program will include playing with new, developmentally appropriate toys.  Children are encouraged to dress in comfortable clothes such as pants, shirts, and tennis shoes because they'll be having fun jumping around and settling to the floor while they play and learn.  This month's activities focus on the  alphabet.  Tickets are required.  They are free and available when the library opens at 10:00 am.

Thomas Davis "The Snakeman" visits Freeman Library on Thursday, June 29 for shows at 2:30 and 3:30 pm

   Psst...snakes in the library...Thursday, June 29, 2017...for shows at 2:30 and 3:30 pm.  Snakeman, Thomas Davis, will bring an assortment of snakes to show children on Thursday afternoon.   Mr. Davis will talk about the snakes and then pass them to teen and adult volunteers to hold so that children can get a good look at the snakes and touch them.   This program is recommended for children 5 years and older.   Tickets are required.  They are free and available starting 30 minutes before each session.

Magician Mick Corley visits Freeman Library on Thursday, June 22 for shows at 2:30 and 3:30 pm

Magician Mick Corley visits Freeman Library on this Thursday, June 22 at 2:30 & 3:30 pm for magic, puppets, humor and mime.  Mick always has the children rolling in the aisles with laughter as he brings up a few children to assist with his tricks.   He also reminds children of the importance of reading in their everyday life.

Tickets are required.  They are free and available in the Children's Department starting 30 minutes before each session.   This program is reommended for children 5 yreas and older.  Due to space limiations in the meeting room, please do not bring baby strollers into the room.
