Magazines

Current Issues

Did you know that the library maintains an up-to-date selection of magazines and periodicals?  Whether you are looking for fashion advice, sports news, or celebrity gossip, chances are, we have something for you.  Newspapers and current magazine issues may be read in the library but cannot be checked out.  For those patrons who are interested in local news, we carry bulletins and newspapers from our surrounding community.  You can also enjoy digital editions of some periodicals on one of our three ipads.  If you haven't used an ipad before, swing by the circulation desk and check one out.

Magazine Cancellations

picture of magazinesDue to budget cuts, we will be cancelling some of our magazine subscriptions in 2013. . Unfortunately the cost of magazine subscriptions has gone up, while our budget remains the same. Thirty subscriptions all together had to be cancelled. If you don't see your favorite magazine, please check with our staff. We are sorry for any inconvenience this causes to our customers.

People Who Need "People"

Everybody knows libraries have books, but did you know that we also have newspapers and magazines? Fairbanks Library has about 80 newspaper and magazine subscriptions. Newspapers include the Houston Chronicle, USA Today, the Wall Street Journal, Investors’ Business Daily, Barron’s, and the Houston Business Journal. There are many different magazines for adults. They range from People and House Beautiful to Scientific American and Consumer Reports. And we didn’t forget the kids! We have magazines for them, too.

Shhhh! Do you want to find out some juicy gossip?

I get all my juicy information from People Magazine.  Baldwin Boettcher has the latest issue of People in the Reader’s Corner. By the way, the Reader’s Corner is usually a pleasantly quiet area with tables and comfortable seating. You can read the latest copy of People at the Library and previous issues can be checked out for the two week lending period.
