LSC-Tomball Community Library Begins a New Chapter

Please welcome Deborah Sica, our new Co-Director of the public library side of LSC-Tomball Community Library. When she begins July 30th, she will be the second public library Co-Director in the current location, succeeding Wendy Schneider who retired in April.

Deborah received her BA in English and Women’s Studies from the State University of New York in Buffalo, her Masters of Fine Arts in Writing and Poetics at Naropa University in Boulder, CO, and her Masters of Library and Information Science at San José State University in San José, CA.

Since 1997 Deborah has worked in Research & Education. While working in the joint public and academic Martin Luther King, Jr. Library on the San José State University campus, Deborah acquired insight into how joint-use public-academic library systems can benefit their communities. She has also worked as an Assistant Librarian in an Austin law firm, a Collection Surveyor at the University of California, Berkley archives and as an Archivist at the Holocaust Museum in Houston. The Holocaust Museum experience was a turning point in her career. She realized the importance of equal access to library service and public resources as a basic human right. From that point on, her career turned to public libraries.
