This month we are delighted to be exhibiting the watercolors of Anne Shirley, a Texas transplant from Washington, D.C. and Maryland, who has lived most of her adult life in Texas and Louisiana with sojourns to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Yemen. An art teacher in Louisiana’s Calcasieu Parish Schools, Mrs. Shirley earned her BS in Art Education at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. Her work has earned honors in watercolor shows in Houston and Beaumont, Texas; Boise, Idaho and locally.
She is intrigued by nature, flowers in particular, and tries to push herself through experimentation. And by looking for the unusual in such a way as to help the viewer of her art see ordinary things in a different way. She sets up problems for herself involving a strong design and composition to expand her horizons.
She considers watercolor to be a fascinating and demanding medium. Come and enjoy her work through the month of February.
