Upcoming Events for Seniors 50+

Bus 1 Here’s what Precinct 4’s Senior Adult Program has coming up for those of us age 50 or better. To register, call 281-893-3726. For more information go to the Senior Adult Program web site or call 281-893-3726.
• A trip to the Bryan Museum in Galveston on July 15, $10, departing from Fairbanks Library at 9 am.
• A group volunteer outreach to the Star of Hope Mission on August 2, free, departing from Fairbanks Library at 8:15am.
• A bus trip to the Annual Precinct 4 Opry at the Humble Convention Center on August 12, $15, departing from Jersey Village Baptist Church at 4:30pm.

50+ Bus Trip to the Houston Zoo

Yes, yes, yes! Back by popular demand, we have another stunning Harris County Precinct 4 Fun for Seniors bus trip planned. Thursday, May 5th, we’ll be exploring the Houston Zoo and enjoying lunch at the Spaghetti Warehouse. The bus will depart from the front door of the library at 8:15 a.m. and return at 3:30 p.m. As always, the bus trip is free; zoo admission is $17, unless you are age 65 or over, in which case it’s $10.50; and lunch is on you. A-MAZE-ing Fall Fun4Seniors

Dewberry FarmAge 50 or better?  Hop a Precinct 4 bus for a quick trip to Brookshire to explore the 8-acre corn maze at Dewberry Farm!  The farm has added some brainteasers to the maze for another dimension of fun.  While you’re there, grab some lunch at the concession stand.  The cost of the trip is $7 per person plus whatever you spend on lunch.  The bus will leave the library parking lot at 10:30 am.  For reservations or more information, call Precinct 4’s Senior Adult Program at 281-893-3726.

Fall Festival Fun!

Scarecrow Festival 2015Get into the spirit of fall at the Scarecrow Festival in Chappell Hill! Harris County Precinct 4 is offering free transportation for seniors age 50 or better from St. Luke’s Hospital at the Vintage on Saturday, October 10, departing at 9 am and returning at 5 pm.

Buffalo Bayou BoatJoin the Precinct 4 Fun4Seniors group on Thursday, October 8, for a guided tour on the Spirit of the Bayou pontoon boat through the heart of downtown Houston along the historic Buffalo Bayou.  Starting at Allen’s Landing, our city’s birthplace, view the redeveloped Sesquicentennial Park and Sabine Promenade. Next, visit Phoenicia Specialty Foods for lunch (at your own expense).

Texas Rice Festival with Fun4Seniors

Johnny LeeTake a fun trip to the Texas Rice Festival in Winnie with the Precinct 4 Seniors on Saturday, October 3. The Festival features amazing food, live entertainment, pageants, an arts and crafts show, an art and photography exhibit, an antique car show, livestock shows, and all kinds of contests. There is no charge for seniors 65 and older. Tickets are $10 for adults under 65 and can be purchased at the gate. Lunch is on your own at the festival. Bus transportation is provided from the Fairbanks Library departing at 10:30 a.m.

BrookwoodIf you’ve never been to the Brookwood Community in Brookshire, you’re missing out. Brookwood is a nonprofit residential facility and vocational program for adults with disabilities. The accomplishments of the Brookwood’s citizens are amazing and inspirational.
