Come Meet our Peeps!

As #ProjectPeep continues here at the Barbara Bush Library, our duck egg hatched and joined our crew of chicks! His name is JJ Wattle and he's cute, fluffy, and just as fast as the one and only JJ Watt! 

Stop on by to see the chicks and JJ any time during our open hours. You can also view our livestreams by visiting the Harris County Public Library YouTube channel. Our peeps will be here for another week before heading back to the farm so stop on by before April 8th! 

Project Peep Ending Soon at North Channel

Project PeepProject Peep is sadly coming to a close here at North Channel Library. Stop by anytime during open hours to see them in the brooder near the front desk.
We will have our final goodbyes on Saturday, March 25th at 10:30 AM at our Project Peep Reunion Party in the Public Meeting Room. The farmer will be here from Blue Star Ranch, and the Foster Families will also share their fun memories and scientific journals. There will also be light refreshments and cake at the party.

Project Peep and Pokémon at North Channel

Project peepProject Peep is still underway at North Channel Branch Library. Baby chicks are now 7 days old and growing fast. Stop by the display case near the front desk to see them grow and play. 
If you can't make it by the library, you can follow "harriscountypl" on YouTube to watch live feed.
Today "Natu" from Pokémon Go decided to hang with the baby chicks and we were able to snap a picture. Pokémon Club will be March 25th at 3 PM.

Project Peep Day 19 at North Channel

Project Peep Day 19 and we are still monitoring the eggs closely and anxiously awaiting Wednesday, Egg Hatching Day 21.
10 families were chosen as Foster Chick Families and will take home 2 chicks each for two weeks. We have put together the cages which includes a Scientific Journal for the families to take notes and journal the activities of their chicks. 
On Saturday, March 25 we will reunite the chicks at a Foster Chick Reunion Party where you can drop by and wish the chicks good luck as they make their way back to Blue Star Ranch.

Project Peep at North Channel

Project PeepDay 17 of Project Peep and we have movement from our chicks. Today we placed a cheesecloth down inside the incubator and laid them flat so they can begin preparing to hatch. Hoping for more action within the next 3 days!

Day 21 will be on Wednesday, March 8th so stop by the front desk to wish them good luck, and good hatching!

The Eggs are Here!

Yesterday, the eggs for Project Peep arrived! They are in an incubator located at the Children's Information Desk. Stop on by and check it out! 

We also have some egg-cellent programs coming up to help you learn more about Eggs and Chickens. 

Goodbye, Chicks: Project Peep Ends at Atascocita This Saturday

On Saturday morning, we will say goodbye to our baby chicks as they go home to the Blue Star Ranch. Project Peep has been an amazing experience from seeing the chicks hatch to tracking their progress every day. You can say goodbye today and tomorrow morning at the library.
