Sometimes an Encouraging Tail Wag Is All a Reluctant Reader Needs

Cayenne and friendHCPL and Northwest Branch Library are pleased to announce a new program with Tender Loving K-9s Reading Education Assistance Dogs (R.E.A.D.) designed to help reluctant readers gain confidence in their abilities. The idea behind R.E.A.D. is simple. When it comes to unconditional acceptance and sincere enthusiasm, dogs are a breed apart, so what better listener for a child who may be struggling with reading than a friendly pooch? Starting on November 26, and continuing every third Tuesday each month, registered therapy dog, Cayenne, and her human, Kristin Fitzgerald, will visit Northwest Branch Library.
