How to Renew Items

I am excited to let everyone know that our online renewal system has been updated, and renewals will now be calculated by your original due date.  I know that this will make many of you very happy!
For those of you who are not sure how to renew your items online I would like to take a moment to walk you through the process. I will be focusing on how to renew physical items (books, dvds, cds, etc...) that you have checked out at the library; this post will not deal with renewing digital materials. You can learn about renewing digital items here.
Please remember that we are here to help. So, if you have any additional questions please feel free to contact your local branch, post comments below or use the “Ask a Librarian” feature on our website.

Renew Materials @ Your Library!

Remember to renew the books and DVD's you check-out to avoid possible fines. You can phone 713-747-4763 to use our  automated phone renewal or you can go to our website:   For these two services, your library card barcode number and pin are required. You can also call us direct at the North Channel Library to renew materials  if you know your barcode number, but have forgotten your pin number: 281-457-1631  The only time we cannot renew  an item is if another customer is waiting to use it. Another helpful service is that you can ask for more time, even when you are at the Library checking materials out for the first time! So ask us for extra time the next time you check-out--especially if you are going on a long vacation this summer!

As a Maud Marks patron I am happy to say that my computer skills have improved as I navigate through the databases.  I have been able to make requests from Harris County libraries as well as InterLibrary Loan.  I have been able to read many more of the Spanish language books I am interested in through this service.
