How do they compare with Romance Novels on Compact Disc?

Well alright, endearments whispered in the ear beat stories about love hands down. But there are times when such a ticklish thrill would be unnecessarily distracting. Driving a car, for instance, or operating heavy machinery where such a distraction would lead to disaster and not affection. As a matter of fact it might significantly decrease the time available for affection, perhaps even eliminate it entirely.

I have a confession: I love Lifetime movies based on Nora Roberts' novels. I can practically hear you all groaning, but I just can’t help it. They are so wonderfully ridiculous! Watching one is a little bit like watching a train wreck – you know you shouldn’t watch, but you just can’t seem to look away.

Romance in the Library

I am excited to announce that Freeman now has a romance section on the 2nd floor!  After many requests from our romance fans (of which I am one!) we have finally been able to set aside some space to highlight our romance authors.  If you have trouble finding it, please don't be afraid to ask us at the reference desk - we'll be happy to point it out to you.

Valentines is one of my favorite holidays.  No time off but lots of romance, love and special gifts.  Keep watch for all the wonderfully exciting programming the library will present during this month.  Make sure you look at the events calendar for Baldwin Boettcher to see if you need to register for the program, if it is a ticketed program or if showing up will work.  All the events will note if you must register or if it is ticketed.  If in doubt, call us at 281-821-1320 and we will help you with this information or get you signed up for the program.  Looking forward to seeing you in the library no matter what age as we have programming for babies to adults.

THE HEART OF ROMANCE

This past weekend I had the most unusual experience of enjoying a backstage pass to the Toyota Center, and while I was in Catering, Gene Simmons appeared and sat down at the next table.   If you've listened to NPR's Terry Gross interview Simmons, from the rock band Kiss, you're probably aware of the fact that this egocentric (and enormously successful) entertainer is not exactly the romantic type.  He might even be the antithesis of romance.
