Create Your Business Plan: A "Hands-On" Workshop by SCORE

This Saturday, from 10:30-noon, we are hosting a free SCORE workshop that's important to new business owners. A solid business plan is essential to gaining access to capital and to truly understanding your business today and in the future. We cannot recommend this too highly.

SCORE's EzyBusPlan Training workshop will walk you through the twelve critical elements of every business plan. It will teach you how to create your own customized business model; how to assess the competitive quality of your business model; how to convert worksheet data into a professional business plan that lenders will appreciate and that you can use to help focus and grow your business. 

Registration begins at 10:00 a.m. in Room E-100, just inside the Commons Building. Everyone is welcome.

Saturday November 7 - Business Workshop - Attract Lenders to Fund or Grow Your Business


This two part workshop will introduce a variety of loan programs for small business and the 5 C’s to get the lenders approval.

You will also have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with a SCORE mentor to discuss your unique situation and network with other small businesses who are facing similar challenges.

Best Practices for Moving your Business Online: SCORE presentation this Saturday

Small business owners, this is really worthwhile.
SCORE is a nonprofit association supported by the U.S. Small Business Administration dedicated to helping small businesses get off the ground and grow and achieve their goals, through education and mentorship. Once a quarter they give an excellent presentation here at the library. So far ALL their workshops have been some of the most excellent presentations we have had, so they are truly worth coming to.

This Saturday, from 10:30 until noon, Marco Cerrato will be presenting Best Practices for Moving your Business Online. You will learn:
-how to align your business objectives with your online & marketing plans
-how to identify your target audience
-how to research your competitors online
-how to choose the right type of website for your particular business 
-how to explore options of building your own website vs. hiring a professional
-the required steps for setting up online (domain, webhost, etc)
-what type of online marketing promotion tools are available
-how to measure the results and avoid some common pitfalls

SCORE presents Financing Your Small Business on Saturday, July 25

Vital ImageryOn Saturday, July 25th from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM, SCORE will present a free workshop on financing your small business. In this workshop attendants will learn about various sources of funding, best practices and where to start, what lenders look for in applications, and more.

This program is ideal for small business owners and individuals interested in starting a small business. This program is free and open to adults. Registration is required and can be done here. Walk-ins are welcome is space is available.

THE SAFEST BRIDGE: SCORE Business Program this Saturday about Sales Strategies

The sales process and gaining customers is often the most intimidating aspect of your own small business, yet it is critical at all stages of your company’s growth cycle. No one relishes being rejected or hearing the dreaded word, “NO”. Marketing and Revenue Advisor David Adkindele will present this free sales workshop to address strategies for improving your chances with the potential customer.

You will learn:
The importance of your role in the customer’s buying journey
* Why “safe” is important to the buyer
* What customers really want and how to identify it

* How you can be the customer’s guide
* How to understand the human nature of the buyer

Are you ready to be your own boss?  Maud Marks can help you do that!  This Saturday at 10 AM, SCORE, a volunteer group who offer business counseling to small business owners, will be here to show you how it is done.  They will discuss things like choosing a business entity, the right location, business expenses and deductions, employees vs. subcontractors, financial organization (setting up your books), forms, websites and more.  Let 2015 be the year you gain your employment independence!
