Help Yourself

We have expanded our January book display at the Aldine Library. In addition to what we have in the lobby, we now have self-help books set out in the periodical area of the branch. Stop by and take a look at both book display locations. Help yourself!

How To Stay Young For the First 100 Years

celebrate

Growing older is not for sissies!  Do you have headaches, backaches, neck pain or sports injuries (yes, you Baby Boomer trying to do what you did in your 20s, we are speaking to you)?  Or are you facing discomfort from a different life stage event, such as pregnancy?
Then you may benefit from hearing Dr. Karina Garza talk about How to Stay Young for the First 100 years.  Dr. Garza is a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (CCSP) by the American Board of Sports Physicians (ACBSP).  She will be at the Evelyn Meador Branch Library on Monday, March 26 at 11 a.m.  Ask her how you can deal with those creaky bones, that tennis elbow or even that achy pregnancy back.  Join us, and learn how to  help your body heal itself.

On the Shelf: The Power of Small

The premise of The Power of Small: Why Little Things Make All the Difference by Linda Kaplan Thaler and Robin Koval is a simple one. “We have become a nation of skimmers, our attention limited to sound bites, live video clips, and headlines,” they say, adding that, as a result, the small cues, the simple gestures, the random acts of kindness that give life texture and meaning are all too often overlooked or ignored.
