TGIF Programs' Winter Film Festival Event #2 - This Friday!


The TGIF Programs Winter Film Festival continues with Event #2 this Friday. We will show Vertigo, the 1958 Alfred Hitchcock film starring James Stewart, Kim Novak, and Barbara Bel Geddes.

Refreshments and DVD are provided by the Friends of Freeman Library. After Event #2, the DVD will be added to the HCPL Collection and available for checkout. This free program requires no registration.

Adults - Have you ever been curious about playing Pickleball? Then, join us as Richard Kidder tells us about the history and origin of the game, the court layout and equipment needed to play. He will also describe the actual playing of the game and the scoring, including some videos of the recent US open championship.

TGIF Programs Hosts "Maintaining Your Jr Outlook in a Sr Body"


Adults - Please join TGIF Programs on Friday, November 4 at 10:30 AM. Mary Schmitz-Brown B.S., CCRC, Assistant Director of Research, Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, University of Texas Medical Branch, will present "Maintaining Your Junior Outlook in a Senior Body—Eye Health and Safety Risks in an Aging Population."

Finding Family Skeletons

The Maud Marks Library has two great opportunities for those of you would like to begin or further your family tree research. One is a genealogy program and the other a field trip to the Clayton Genealogical Library.

TGIF Programs Friday Film Series Returns to Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month!

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, the Friday Film Series will be showing the 2015 film McFarland USA, starring Kevin Costner, Maria Bello, and Ramiro Rodriguez. This Disney film tells the true story of Coach Jim White who moves his family to McFarland, California.He turns seven students with no hope into a cross-country team.

Upcoming Fun4Seniors Trips departing from Kingwood Branch Library

fun4seniorsHarris County Precinct 4's Senior Adult Program is offering the following Fun4Seniors Excursion Trips for library customers in October and November 2016. Participating is simple. Participants must be 50 years and older and must register for trips by calling 281-893-3726. All trips depart from and return to Kingwood Branch Library located at 4400 Bens View Lane, Kingwood TX 77339. Transportation is free and lunch is on your own. Some destinations require an admission fee. All trips require registering by calling 281-893-3726 in order to participate.

Precinct 4 Fun4Seniors Events

BatsIn September, Harris County Precinct 4’s Fun4Seniors program will be sponsoring two bus trips starting from the library parking lot. Contact the Senior Adult Program at 281-893-3726 for more information about all of their offerings for adults age 50+.
On Saturday, September 10, take a trip to Caldwell, Texas, for the Kolache Festival. This trip is free. The bus departs at 8:30 am and returns at 5:00 pm.
