Children's Area Changes 1.1

Much like Apple does with Iphones and computers, we’ll be sending you updates as we continue to make the upgrades/changes to the Children’s Area.  The most recent and recognizable one is that we have moved all the books previously shelved in the “series” section into Fiction.  The reason: there are so many fabulous books that are part of a “series” that we simply don’t have the room to highlight all of them in that area.  As of today, all series books are now shelved by author. We have pulled a few of the more popular series and they are located on one side of the 2x2 pyramid shelf near the center of the children’s area.  On this shelf, you will find favorites such as Disney, Star Wars and Superheroes. On the shelves at the front of the fiction section (the former series shelves) you will find our Spanish collection, which consists of biographies, fiction, non-fiction and picture books as well as a small selection of Chinese language books. As always, please ask at the reference desk if you need help finding or requesting a book.  More great changes ahead…we’ll keep you posted!

Programas de la Biblioteca en Español

GroupNos gustaría invitar a la comunidad a participar en una variedad de actividades gratuitas que son ofrecido durante el año.    Reúna con nosotros en un ambiente relajado para conversar sobre un libro.  El Club de Libros Hispanos se juntan la primer Miércoles de cada mes.   Si estas interesado en una discusión más profundidad, entonces vengan  a nuestra clase de Superación Personal.  Ejemplos de los temas que se discuten incluyen la toma de decisiones acertadas para su vida y la fijar de metas para el  año nuevo.   Comience hoy para fijar un meta para si mismo a aprender una nueva habilidad.  Clases de computación básicos se ofrecen en la Biblioteca de Katy todos los viernes.

Spanish Computer Classes Are Back

Spanish and French Conversation Clubs

September 9-December 9, 2013

A Spanish or French-speaking native will facilitate each program. No sign up is required. Basic conversational skill in Spanish or French is required.

Spanish YA Books Have Moved!

Over the last few months the Aldine Branch Library has been fortunate enough to have its Spanish YA collection as much as it has. As a result we have moved the book to a location a bit more accommodating. So if you need help finding the new home for the collection then just ask any of our staff members.

Habla Espanol?

Ultimate SpanishDo you speak Spanish?  If you are studying Spanish, would you like a chance to practice your conversation skills?  If you are fluent in Spanish, would you like to share your knowledge of this beautiful language with others who want to learn?  Starting on October 7, Baldwin Boettcher Branch will offer Spanish Conversation, a weekly gathering for Spanish speakers of all levels. Those attending should know at least elementary Spanish.

The Week @ the Katy Library – December 7th Edition

Among our regular programs this week, we have our monthly Superación Personal for those of you who speak Spanish. Each month this group takes a topic and discusses all the aspects. This month’s topic is “Dare to Be Happy.” Come see what it’s all about on Wednesday, 12/09, at 6:00pm.
