Summer Reading Challenges: Explore New Universes and Earn More Points

As you know, Harris County Public Library Summer Reading Program's theme this year is a Universe of Stories, and we want to encourage you to explore that universe--maybe even step outside of your reading comfort zone and discover new worlds, authors, genres, peoples and places. One way we are doing that is by offering weekly Summer Reading Challenges.

Take any, all or none of the challenges. It's totally up to you, but if you do a challenge, you can get more points toward your summer reading goals and prizes (See ProTip below).

Want to take up the challenge, but don't know where to start? For each weekly Summer Reading Challenge, we offer a collection for you to chose from on OverDrive. Just browse, choose, and download to your smartphone, tablet or computer, or visit any of our 26 branch locations and ask one of our friendly, knowledgeable staff members for recommendations.

A Universe of Stories

It’s that time again—summer reading starts this week! This year’s theme is space, so I’m starting off my summer blogging with some out of this world fiction and non-fiction recommendations for the youngest, middle grade, teen and adult readers.
