Summer Reading Countdown!

 

Let the countdown begin! The Summer Reading Program is only a few days away so make sure you stop by the library starting June 3rd to register or visit our website from home. The program will run from June 3rd - August 10th. Everyone is invited to participate which means babies, children, teens, and adults. Read books and log in your minutes of reading for a chance to win awesome prizes. Also, come join us for movie days, story times, performers, and crafts! Did I mention this is all FREE? Well, it's free! Don't miss out on this great chance to have a fun and exciting summer. Summer Reading Carnival for Families!

We are having a party and your family is invited! Marsha’s Petting Zoo will offer children the opportunity to pet and play with farm animals, as well as, several that are a bit more exotic.  There will be llamas, fawns, calves, piglets, chickens, and more! 

When: Tuesday, June 4th, from 3 - 5 pm.

Parents: Don’t forget sunscreen and cameras!
Note: This program will be held outside. Please be aware that outside programs may change due to weather.

Summer Volunteers Needed

Looking for something to do this summer? Volunteers are always welcome at the Stratford Library. Come out and help with summer programs, literacy tutoring, and small jobs around the library.  For more information contact Mandy at 281-426-3521.

Marble Painting!

Join us on Tuesday, June 26 at 3 pm for marble painting.  It should a rolling good time!  Kid's 6 to 12 will get the most out of this program but everyone is welcome!

LIFE: It’s Summertime and the Living is Easy

summer foodJoin us tomorrow at LIFE and discover meals that are light and cool this long, hot summer. Jackie Barnhart concocts some inventive gazpachos, asparagus wheels, and an edible arrangement of melons and assorted fruits. Homemade lemonade, anyone?

New Volunteer Orientation

Join us tonight, May 21st at 6:30 for our New Volunteer Orientation!  We accept volunteers of all ages, though any volunteers under the age of 12 will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian while volunteering.  Once you have attended the orientation and submitted your volunteer application, you are able to volunteer any time the library is open to the public!

Volunteers help with exciting programs such as our weekly Saturday @ the Movies, Patron Count Week, Tweeners, Friday Movie, and Tuesday Special Program!  This year we will be offering a very special Volunteer Summer Camp for a limited number of volunteers.  To find out more about Volunteer Summer Camp, please come to the New Volunteer Orientation or ask at the Information Desk.

If you are not able to attend the May 21st Orientation, the next New Volunteer Orientation will be Monday, June 4th at 6:30 PM.


 

Crafts-to-Go! @ Your Library

The Clear Lake City-County Freeman Branch Library will offer the continuation of the Adult “Crafts- to-Go!” program in conjunction with the Summer Reading Program - ReaderNation on Tuesday, August 2nd.  The last project of the summer is a burlap butterfly magnet (as seen on the right). All materials needed are included within the bag, compliments of the Friends of Freeman Library.  The burlap butterfly magnet project will be available at the Second Floor Information Desk while supplies last.
